Camera Work In the trailer, close-ups are used on the girl in the film you never see what’s behind the girl, which can affect the viewers to think what’s behind her and what to know. It leaves suspense and can play mind games on the audience to watch the film just to see what happens which is the whole of idea of a movie trailer is to persuade people to watch the film. The only time you see what is behind the girl is when you see a figure appear behind her when she is looking down in horror at something, a over-the-shoulder shot to show the girl and also what’s behind her but the scene isn’t for long and then it jump cuts to another. As the viewer watching the trailer I was left shocked and surprise at the scene as it left me confused on what happens next, which persuades audiences to watch it. Editing I would say that the fades in the trailer are quite slow, as the viewer I expected it to maybe speed up and for something to happen, the creater of the trailer was smart as they built suspense in the trailer waiting for this part The trailer also has blackouts when the screen just goes blank but only for a couple of seconds, I think it’s someone blinking as dialogue is used in the trailer ‘the rumour is you can see her in the woods’. So to me this suggests that she is always watching so she could be blinking.

House at the End of the Street

The film ‘House at the End of the Street’ was made in 2012 and was directed by Mark Tonderai. The main characters in this film are Jennifer Lawrence and Max Thieriot, the film is rated 15 and it is a horror thriller film.

Camera Work

In the trailer, close-ups are used on the girl in the film you never see what’s behind the girl, which can affect the viewers to think what’s behind her and what to know. It leaves suspense and can play mind games on the audience to watch the film just to see what happens which is the whole of idea of a movie trailer is to persuade people to watch the film.

The only time you see what is behind the girl is when you see a figure appear behind her when she is looking down in horror at something, a over-the-shoulder shot to show the

girl and also what’s behind her but the scene isn’t for long and then it jump cuts to another. As the viewer watching the trailer I was left shocked and surprise at the scene as it left me confused on what happens next, which persuades audiences to watch it.

Editing

I would say that the fades in the trailer are quite slow, as the viewer I expected it to maybe speed up and for something to happen, the creater of the trailer was smart as they built suspense in the trailer waiting for this part

The trailer also has blackouts when the screen just goes blank but only for a couple of seconds, I think it’s someone blinking as dialogue is used in the trailer ‘the rumour is you can see her in the

woods’. So to me this suggests that she is always watching so she could be blinking.

Lighting and Colour

The trailer include dull colours which is really used in most horror thriller films but even when the scene is inside low key lighting is used and almost a miserable setting, the mise-en-scene is in the woods which can make the story seem more terrifying with the scene that you choose.

Sound

In every trailer the sound I think it’s the most important even if its silences, the sound brings everything together and makes it work especially the editing. Diegetic sound is used as dialogue ‘oh my God’ when she is looking at something as she walks into the room, could show fear or upset at what she is seeing. Non-diegetic sound is also used as a heartbeat is included near to the end when the trailer is moving faster the effect on the audience with this is that it could be the girls heartbeat who is trying to get away from whatever she is and then it goes silent as the audience will want to find out what happened to the girl.
