Class: Insecta Order: Diptera Suborder: Cyclorrhapha Family: Muscidae.

Musca domestica, lives in close association with people

all over the world.

The insects feed on human foodstuffs and wastes.

In warmer climates, the filth fly, M. sorbens is closely

related to the housefly and is important in the spread of

eye infections.

Blowflies (Calliphoridae) and other flies have been

associated with the transmission of enteric infections.
