House Fly


Identification of house fly :-Small species 6-9 mm long with dull thorax ,and abdomen. -the thorax has four engitudinal dark stipes .- sides of abdomen are pale - the fourth wing veins are angled sharply ending befor the wing tip.- the arista of the antenna has many fine hairs .

Desired environment-:

-almost any types of warm,moist ,organic materials such as garbage's .

-flies are inactive in temperature below (45 f ) and killed in temperature below (32f)


Biological characteristic


-The development stages are :-

1-Egg :-female begins laying eggs after 4 to20days after adult stage.

-adults lays five to six batches in her life (batch contains 75-150 egg)-eggs always lays away from direct light

-hatching occurs in 12- 24 hours during the summer month.

Last from 4-to 7 days in worm weather

The most active stage ,much feeding and takes short time to complete

days –the adult insects needs one hour to expand its body and drying its wings in warm weather

1-sanitary refuse storage and regular collection .

2-control of faeces of the human ,and blood of animals.

3-elemination of open dumps .4- sanitary land fill.5-establish of using incinerators .


6- proper sewage and industrial waste management .

7-elimination of any organic materials accumulation that remains moist long enough to produce flies .

8-elimination of weeds .9 -chemical methods such as

space spraying
