The colour scheme shown throughout this edition appears to be orange, as the main car in the main image is orange, and this colour is shown throughout with the masthead and the cover lines. For example, most issues of this magazine will have a skyline and the BBC logo at the very top of the magazine. The masthead will always be at the top of the magazine just below the skyline in the same italic bold font used every time. However, the colour of the lettering in the masthead will differ depending on the colour of the main image. The barcode will usually be in the bottom right hand corner of the magazine, near to the main cover line, which will always be in the bottom half of the magazine and the cover lines will always be to the sides, attempting to not obscure the view of the main image.

House Style• House style is a company’s preferred way of presenting their magazines. This also

controls the general layout of the magazine. A house style will usually have preferred rules which affects font types used, the images, typography, headers, footers and other things. Even where the barcode goes. Usually, magazines will only use a selected few font types and they will be repeated for different things. For example, the masthead would be the same font throughout, and the cover lines may have a different font to the masthead but will be used consistently throughout issues. The fonts will usually not be changed for very long periods of time because it lets readers and the audience know that this is that company’s magazine because it will be how they usually present their magazines. The headings will also tend to be in a different font style as opposed to the cover lines and masthead but will still be consistent for an extensive time period. On the other hand, this doesn’t always apply to colour schemes because on some magazines, the colour scheme will differ depending on the colour of the main image. So for example the main image may be orange, therefore the colour of the masthead and/or cover lines will also be orange to match.
