No School Insurance
Students and parents are advised that
there is no DEECD insurance for
accidents or thefts at school. There are
insurance companies who provide such
insurance but this is the responsibility of
families and not the school. Should
students bring valuables to school they
should be locked securely in their
lockers or handed in at the general
office for safe keeping during the day.

Students of the Month (February)
Assistant Principal’s Report
Ambulance Cover
Parents are reminded that if your child is
injured or seriously unwell, an ambulance will
be called by the school to transport your child
to the hospital. The priority of the school is
gaining the best and quickest treatment for
serious injuries and illnesses. It is important
therefore that you consider private
ambulance insurance, as a single trip by
ambulance can result in a bill of hundreds of
dollars. This cost must be met by the
parents/carers.
Contact Details Update
Another reminder to update your contact
details at the front office as it is essential that
we can contact you at all times. Please check
the additional contacts you have recorded
with the school for your children. These can
often become outdated and change over
time.
Year 7 Camp
75 Year 7’s and 7 staff members headed off to
the Grampians on Wednesday morning for
the annual camp. This is a well-structured,
activity based camp and students thoroughly
enjoy the variety of activities and the chance
to meet other Year 7 students. It gives
teachers and students an opportunity to get
to know each other well. No doubt we will
hear many reports of the fun had when they
return (look out in the next newsletter for a
report and lots of photos).
Whole School Assembly
The first whole school assembly for 2014 was
held last Thursday and our school captains did
an amazing job of leading the assembly. 2014
school leaders were acknowledged including
School Captains, House Captains and Vice
Captains, Peer Mentors, Year 7 Scholarship
Recipients and SRC members. A Tap Dance
group entertained the audience and the
assembly finished with the presentation of
the Student of the Month Awards, (more
pictures on page 6).
Year 8 Team Building Day
On Wednesday 12th March, all Year 8 students
will participate in a double session of activities
to build teamwork. The activities have been
planned by Kate Douglas and Alison Callahan
(Year Level Coordinators) and the School
Nurse, Julia Lohmeyer.

Term One Reports and
Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews
Interim Reports will be distributed to all
students in Years 7 – 10 on Tuesday 1st April.
On Wednesday 2nd April our school will be
holding its Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews
from 4.00pm – 7.00pm. Please save this date
in your calendar as it is an opportunity to
meet teachers and discuss your child’s
progress over the term. There will be
information on how to book into interview
sessions in the next newsletter.
Dropping Off & Collecting Students
Parents/Guardians, are reminded to drop off
and collect students from the KARADOC
AVENUE CARPARK. This is a much safer
alternative than coming up the main driveway
and it also avoids traffic congestion.

Interhouse Swimming Sports
Our inter-house swimming sports
were held at the Irymple Pool on
Wednesday 19th February. This
was a successful day with a good participation
rate, plenty of atmosphere and colour and
some excellent results in the pool. Spectators
were again entertained by the commentary
and wit of Mr Bill Sauer on the microphone
and also had their appetites sated by Gibbo
and his crew on the BBQ.
The result was in the balance for the early
part of the day but in the end Lloyd powered
away comfortably to again claim the title from
Johansen who came 2nd, Middleton 3rd and
Roberts 4th. All fought hard in a 3 way battle
for second and in fact there were only 7
points separating 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

all parents and families who came along and
supported the day.
Interschool Swimming Sports
Congratulations to all swimmers
who took part in the interschool
swimming sports last Wednesday
26th February. This year SJC won comfortably
after we were up with them early on the
points board. It was a close tussle between us
and RCSC for 2nd position throughout the day,
with RCSC getting over the line to claim 2nd
place and we finished a close 3rd overall. It
was pleasing to see however that we had
swimmers in all but one event and that
students stepped up and swam in events on
short notice when other swimmers could not
swim in their chosen events. Well done and
thanks to those swimmers.
There were 2 excellent individual results. We
had 1 age group champion on the day, that
being Miller McRae who won the 14 Yrs Boys
AGC – Miller came 1st in Freestyle and
Butterfly and 3rd in Breaststroke.
Our other winner on the day was Kylen Davis
in the 14 Yrs Boys Backstroke.
Thanks to the parents and family members
who came along to support the team on the
day, and once again congratulations to all
swimmers.
We will have 3 swimmers, Miller, Kylen and
Riley Plummer, who will be representing the
college at the Loddon Mallee Region
Swimming at Swan Hill on Tuesday 18th
March. Good luck to those swimmers.
