WHAT IS HOUSING SELECTION?

University Housing residents must participate in the Housing

Selection process for on-campus housing for the 2013-2014

academic year. Students use an online system to submit their

application, building and room choices, and roommate selection (if

applicable).

Students choose an “option” based on their desired living choice for

the 2013-2014 academic year.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN HOUSING SELECTION?

Housing Selection is an important process for current residents to select

housing options for the upcoming academic year. Registered off-campus

students (spring 2013) may complete a housing application via MyPack

Portal; they will be assigned after new students. Applications from off-campus students should be

completed by May 1.

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR HOUSING SELECTION?

Housing Selection is a two-part process: updating your housing application and completing your room

assignment.

Log on to MyPack portal. Under Student Services, select University Housing>Current Student>

click on Housing Selection.

The screens will walk you through the process. Be sure to complete all screens:

verifying/changing lifestyle questions; selecting a room/roommate; accepting the Agreement;

taking the survey.

Non-matching lifestyle responses will display in RED.

If you do not have a specific roommate in mind, please sign up in rooms that have another

individual already assigned, instead of assigning yourself to an open double room. Students

who assign themselves into open rooms may be consolidated to accommodate roommate

pairs.

If you have questions when completing the process, Housing Assignments staff members will

be available at the Housing office, 1112 Pullen Hall, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (M-F). Students

may also call (515-2440) or email housing@ncsu.edu with questions.

HOW DO I REQUEST A ROOMMATE?

If you have a roommate you’d like to live with, the Housing

Selection process will allow you to enter your roommate(s)

choice(s).

Keep in mind that the room/unit you are requesting must have the

appropriate number of vacancies for the invited roommate(s).

All roommates must be eligible to participate in the Housing

Selection process. The student requesting the roommate(s) must

assign themselves first and then enter the name of the invited

roommate(s) to the appropriate bed to reserve the space(s).

Once the invitation is made, an email will be sent to the invited

roommate(s) with instructions and a link to confirm or reject the

invitation. It is very important that the invited roommate

complete/update the Housing application in order to finish the

process.

If an invited roommate does not confirm the assignment by the end of the option deadline, the

invitation is canceled. The student(s) will have 48 hours to locate another person to fill the

vacancy. If the vacancy is not filled, the space becomes available for students signing up in

other options.

Accepted new freshmen (except in upper-class halls), Co-op, Transfer, and enrolled off-campus

students may be invited as a roommate(s).

WHEN DO I SIGN UP?

The online process consists of three sections: Wolf Ridge at Centennial; Wolf Village; and the

residence halls. Please review the options for each section to determine the option that best

addresses your needs.

Helpful tip: Keep several building/floor/suite/room options in mind, since assignments are made on a

first-come, first-serve basis, and your first choice may not be available.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH OPTION APPLIES TO ME?

OPTION 1 Groups of four: February 11, 8 a.m. through February 12, 1:30 p.m.

OPTION 2 Groups of three: February 13, 8 a.m. through February 14, 1:30 p.m.

OPTION 3 Groups of two or individuals: February 15, 8 a.m. through 4 p.m.

Wolf Village (Sophomore 2.75 CGPA, no judicial, no more than two sophomores per unit) February 11-14, 2013 Note: at least one person in the group must be a current Wolf Village resident.

OPTION 4 Groups of four: February 11, 8 a.m. through February 12, 1:30 p.m.

OPTION 5 Groups of three: February 13, 8 a.m. through February 14, 1:30 p.m.

OPTION 6 Groups of two or individuals: February 15, 8 a.m. through 4 p.m.

Eligible residence hall (RH) students who want to move to Wolf Village (WV): (Junior and above or Sophomore with 2.75 CGPA and no judicial). WV residents can pull in RH students if eligible during options 4-6 or just RH students can sign up here if eligible. See additional information below. OPTION 11 Any residence hall (with or without a roommate): February 27, 8 a.m. through February 28, 1:30 p.m.

Are you ready to make your mark at Wolf Ridge?

OPTION 1: Group of Four: Do you have three friends that want to live with you in the Wolf Ridge

apartment complex on Centennial Campus? If yes, you and your group are option 1. (2/11/13)

OPTION 2: Group of Three: Short one roommate? If you have two friends who want to live with you

at Wolf Ridge, you are option 2. (2/13/13)

OPTION 3: Groups of two or individuals: If you and a friend want to live in Wolf Ridge, or if you are

flying solo and want to live in Wolf Ridge, you are option 3. ** Please note: “flying solo” does not imply

OPTION 4: Any group of 4 (at least one person in the group must be a current Wolf Village resident).

Do you currently live in a residence hall?

OPTION 7: Moving to Wolf Village: Are you currently living in the

residence halls, but want to experience apartment life on campus with

University Housing? If you and three friends want to live in Wolf Village,

your time is now. You are option 7. (2/18/13)

Note: A Wolf Village resident may bring a rising sophomore or above to

Wolf Village in options 4 through 6. The Wolf Village resident will need to

send the names of any sophomores requested to sign-up in Wolf Village to housing@ncsu.edu by

February 3. In the subject line, put “Housing Selection Wolf Village”. Remember the requirements for

sophomores moving to Wolf Village are 2.75 CGPA, no judicial record, and no more than two

sophomores per unit. The sophomores will be notified if eligible to live in Wolf Village before the start

of the Wolf Village option.

For any group of residence hall students wanting to move to Wolf Village, this is your option. Please

note the process above if rising sophomores are part of the group.

OPTION 8: Same Room (with or without a roommate): Do you want to return to your same

residence hall room next year? If yes, you are residence hall option 8. (2/19/13)

OPTION 9: Administrative Moves: If you are unable to return to your current room for the fall. See

additional information below. (2/21/13)

OPTION 10: Same Building but different room (with or without roommate): Do you like your

residence hall, but desire a different view? If yes, you are residence hall option 10. (2/25/13)

OPTION 11: Other Residence Hall (with or without a roommate): Are you ready to try something

new? Do you want to continue living on campus, but missed signing up for your current room? If you

answered “yes,” to any of these questions, you are option 11 (2/27/13).

WHICH ROOMS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR RENEWAL?

Each year, some University Housing room inventory is unavailable for renewal. Check this list to see if

your current room, or the room of your choice, will be unavailable next

year:

Owen and Tucker residence halls will not appear as choices; both

buildings are part of the First Year College Village.

Alexander, Bagwell, Becton, Berry, and Turlington residence halls

will only appear during sign up for those students approved to live

in the respective Living and Learning Village for 2013-2014. If you

are interested in one of these Villages, check out our Villages

page (www.ncsu.edu/housing/villages/index.php) to learn more.

Watauga Hall is for upper-class students only. New freshmen may

not be selected as a roommate.

Wolf Village’s Gray and Red halls (S.T.AT.E. Village – Second

Year Transitions and Transfer Experience): Rising sophomores

interested in this Village must complete an application, which can

be found under Living and Learning on the Housing Self Service

portal via MyPack portal. Approved students will be notified by

email on February 5. Applications should be submitted no later

than February 3 to allow time for processing. Housing Selection options for this category are

Option 7 or Option 9.

Certain floors/suites/rooms reserved for Living and Learning Villages will only be visible to

students approved to live in the respective Living and Learning Village for 2013-2014.

Wood B third and fourth floors (Wellness Village)

Lee suites 601-606, 102 and 104 (Women in Science and Engineering Village)

Sullivan suites 506-509 (Scholars Village)

Bragaw even number suites 102-126 and 216-226 (Sustainability Village)

Welch rooms 107, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 208, 209, 212 (Women of Welch Village)

WHAT IF MY ROOM IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR RENEWAL?

(ADMINISTRATIVE MOVES)

You have just read the list of unavailable rooms for next year, and you discover your room falls into this

category. Now what?

Since your room is unavailable, due to no fault of your own, University Housing will place you into a

category known as Administrative Moves [OPTION 9].The Administrative Move student may invite

a roommate who is not involved in an Administrative Move. The Administrative Move student must be

the first one to initiate the assignment and invite the roommate. The invited roommate(s) have until the

end of the option to confirm. (2/22/13)

The invited roommate will receive an email to accept or reject the

invitation. The invited student must complete the process of updating

the Housing Application and accepting the Agreement before the

assignment is complete.

If you fall into the Administrative Move category, and you have several

friends who are also in the same situation, you might consider signing up

as a group. This will allow you to move as a group (see Administrative

Move Group Process below).

ADMINISTRATIVE MOVE GROUP PROCESS

To sign up as a group, the following requirements must be met:

Minimum group size is four students. Groups of 6, 8, or 10 students are also welcome.

All students in the group must have the status of Administrative Move. These students will receive an email prior to January 7 explaining the Administrative Move process.

The group registration is online only. The group will choose a leader to enter the group members’ information along with roommate pairings into the database. Please note: emails to Housing with group members’ names/information will not be accepted/entered; this is an online process only.

Group registration opens February 1, 2013 at 8 a.m. and closes February 18 at 5 p.m.

Only complete groups’ will be assigned.

Assignments will be made based on available building space. Priority is given to group cohesiveness, not to a specific building.

The link to the group request form will be on our website (www.ncsu.edu/housing) and in our portal page. The site will be available February 1, 2013 beginning at 8 a.m.

I AM A SOPHOMORE AND WANT TO MOVE TO

WOLF VILLAGE. DO I HAVE TO MEET ANY

REQUIREMENTS?

There are three ways to sign up to live in Wolf Village:

1. Complete an application for S.T.A.T.E. (Second Year

Transitions and Transfer Experience) Village. Requirements are

no judicial record and a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or

higher.

2. Residence hall upper-class students can sponsor up to two

sophomores per Wolf Village unit. The upper-class student must

send an email to housing@ncsu.edu and include the names of the

upper-class student(s) and sophomore(s). Requirements for

sophomores include no judicial record and a cumulative grade

point average of 2.75 or higher. The sophomore students will be notified by email within 48-

hours of receipt of the email if they are eligible to live in Wolf Village and given Wolf Village

tickets allowing them to sign up during Residence Hall Option 7.

3. A Wolf Village resident may request up to two sophomores per unit. The Wolf Village

resident must send an email to housing@ncsu.edu including the sponsor name and the names

of the sophomore(s). If the sophomore(s) is/are eligible, a Wolf Village ticket will be created

and the student(s) will be notified. The current Wolf Village student can reserve a bedroom for

the sophomore(s) during Options 4-6 of Wolf Village sign up dates. Requirements for

sophomores are no judicial record and a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher.

HOW DO I MAKE A ROOM CHANGE?

Once a student completes the room selection process, he/she may log in again at any time - except via

the Administrative Move option - to change assignments.

HOW DO I VIEW MY ASSIGNMENT?

Students may view their room assignments by logging into the University MyPack portal; under the

section Student Services, select University Housing>Current Student>View Assignment, choosing

“Fall 2013 Term” from the dropdown menu; select Continue.
