Forestry ProductionTimberland accounted for 44.9 percent of the surface land area of Houston County. Total forestry production contributed 12.4 percent of the county’s total agricultural and forestry production.

Overall Contributions to Houston CountyHouston County’s agricultural, forestry, and related industries generated 14,934 full- and part-time jobs, representing 24.4 percent of the county’s total workforce (61,186 jobs).

The total impact of agriculture, forestry, and related industries was $1,808.6 million, which was 25.5 percent of the county’s total economic activity ($7.1 billion). The indirect business taxes impact was $88.4 million, 23.1 percent of the county’s total indirect business taxes.
