In this slide I will be answering this question by explaining in stages how media technologies was used in my journey to my evaluation which I am currently doing, in this slide I will break down research , construction and evaluation so I am able to answer this question effectively and efficiently . Enjoy ^_^

Research was the beginning of blogging journey we first had to do research on a wide range of things including, previous students music video, 3 music videos that could inspire us when creating our own music video and looking into genre, and the artist that are in them genres. For us it was indie pop which was not a popular genre and that is why we loved it so much, so through this process I used a wide range of technologies and the most popular one was INTERNET.

Its “Research” Time

GoogleI will be speaking about the 3 internet sites that have helped me the most through my journey, and Google has certainly done that, in research goggle was my main source of information , when doing our research we had to focus on UK artist , the internet assisted me when finding an ideal artist for our music video due to many UK artist being signed to American or international record label such as Jessie J. The whole meaning of researching is “finding new information” which Google provided me with, Google provided me information of our chosen artist Kate Nash, due to me not knowing of her previously I had to ensure I knew who she was and what sort of songs she does and what category that she falls in, this helped me create the post in which I spoke about our artist

YouTube“YouTube is a video-sharing website on which users can upload, view and share videos” Everyone uses YouTube, including me . YouTube was one of the first sites I used in research. First time I used YouTube in research was when we had to compare 3 music videos, YouTube has helped me significantly when researching, in fact in all stages of my media journey. YouTube helped my group realise that the chosen song did not have a music video an that is what inspired us to do Merry Happy due to us being able to be creative and explore, while being able to not be compared to the original music video.

BloggerBlogger, were would we be without blogger?. We have been using blogger for two years now in AS when we was creating our thriller and we also used blogger this year, blogger was very useful for my research because it is where I placed all my information gathered, predominantly this applies to all stages. When starting out media research I took a while getting used to blogger again, blogger requires a huge amount of dedication by having frequent and relevant blogs.

Lets start the “Construction”This is the point were everything got more exciting and practical, when we were finally able to start producing our music video and putting all our ideas together while trying to create the best music video we possibly could, while doing so we used a range of technologies, this is when we used hardware's more and it got digital, we used from still camera’s to flip camera’s and the professional filming camera’s

Flip cameraThrough my construction flip camera’s became our visual camera, in each location we went to and before we left college for a location or when we meet up, we would always record a quick video on the flip camera, because in our group we wanted to create a sense of a journey and I think with the flip camera we was able to do this, when we first filmed in Frae (Ice-cream scene of our song), we initially filming it the flip camera to test it out and the quality and surprisingly the quality was really good, we was keen to use footage from the flip camera however when returning to the location with the professional camera we took scenes that we thought we better and will suit our music video better.

Our artist came up with the idea of videoing her self while venturing London almost like a vlog about how her day was, and the things that she saw in our video we included this in our mock up however decided against the idea for our actual music video

IPhone through construction my iPhone was very useful for many reasons . My iPhone enabled me to check the weather for the following week, this was very useful for when we had plans to film at Finsbury park, the boat bit in which we had to end up removing because nearly all boat hires were closed. Due to us filming in a lot of locations sometimes it was hard to get to however maps on my iPhone guided me there and made me able to attend nearly all filming days!

Hand Held CameraThe camera became our best friend in all locations we will just snap, snap away, we rotated roles, at times I will be the camera person taking pictures of when we was filming, usually the person taking the picture was the person not filming our artist, however we also took this in rotation as mentioned earlier, I think this played a big part in the construction of our music video, alongside the flip camera, this created a sense of a journey and this is what we was going after that is why I repeatedly mention this.

Final Cut ProWithout final cut pro we wouldn’t of been able to create a music video, final cut pro was were we put all our footage and went through them one by one even though it got tiring at times , we ensured that we selected the best of best clips to use for the final music video. We had background knowledge of final cut pro because of our thriller last year , however we learnt that editing a thriller and a music video is very different mainly because we had to consider lip sync and we had to edit to the beat in order for the music video to look realistic. Overall final cut pro was very useful and without it I do not know how we could of possibly created our music video. Final cut pro enables you to add transitions and effects to your music video however we decided to not use any transitions due to our genre however we did create funny scenes such as the cheese on toast were the toast looks like it is being eaten however you can not see the person eating it, an Inspiration for this was Kate Nash video-foundation.

Professional cameraWithout this we wouldn’t of had a music video, as you would guess this played a HUGE role in construction of our music video, after had settled on locations and times the enxt job was to book a camera, at times all camera’s were booked so we would have to wait luckily our group always booked ahead so we always had the camera when we needed it, before being able to take the camera out we went through a safety check where the technician went through a semi safety lesson, teaching us how to put the camera on the tripod also how to carry the camera. Through construction I became very confident in handling a professional camera and this applies to everyone in my group, the more our confidence grew with the camera, the better of footage was an example is comparing the footage at Blitz which was our first location compared to frae which was one of our last locations.

AncillaryAfter everything we now come to the ancillary part in which we had to create a digipak and a advertisement for our music video , in both of these we had to represent our music video, in different elements this could be taking a specific part of our music video and developing the idea, in my digipak and advertisement I tried my best to represent our artist as outgoing ,fun and bold, to do this we had to use a range of technologies most on the computer to create our products, this ranging from Photoshop to Microsoft word to Facebook!

PhotoshopPhotoshop played a key part in creation of our digipak and advertisement, before we created our products we had to do a mock up in this we would get a rough outline of how we would like our products to look when it is time to really do it, I found Photoshop hard at first however with time I relaxed and got more used to it, the more I got used to it then the more I began to relax and by me relaxing showed in the quality of my work, when we first started our ancillary work we were told to create a

Through the ancillary process I changed my mind plenty of times, since I knew that I will continuously change my mind on my digipak I decided to download Photoshop on my computer, by doing so I was able to finish my digipak on time and it helped me understand Photoshop more and how to use it.

Now I am able to use Photoshop at a expert level however there is still much more for me to learn, when I got comfortable with Photoshop I then went on YouTube to look for effects that I could use to make my digipak stand out more and then that’s when I came across outline glow and literally fell in love with it, so I used outline glow for my front cover also my inner panels

FacebookWhen looking for pictures for my digipak and advertisement, Facebook saved me more importantly previous “model-like” pictures our artist has taken of herself was very beneficial to me, after going through pictures taken at the Photoshop none of them really caught my attention therefore I decided to venture and look for pictures that I could use to replace our photo-shoot pictures, that is when I went on our artist Facebook page and selected 3 pictures from her Facebook, one picture in particular stood out to me in which I ended up using as my front cover also inspired my digipak and advertisement to an extent, our artist is wearing bright red lipstick, and previously looking at Rihanna's digipak I wanted to incorporate her digipak in my own , so they two just linked together using Frieda may picture with following Rihanna's layout.

VlogThrough my ancillary work I have produced a lot of vlogs this is because I find it easier expressing my views through speaking, by creating vlogs enables me to speak about my opinions and targets, I used my iPhone and YouCam on my computer to create these vlogs, I tried my best to include everything I could in my vlogs and keep it as short as possible without blabbering away, I always made sure I stayed focused.

Lets “Evaluate” the situationCurrently I am doing my evaluation and I am using a range of sites and software's, for this slide I am using PowerPoint however I will be uploading this slide onto slide share in which I will then embed onto Photoshop, through these slides I was suppose to be answering the question I first mentioned which was “How did you use media technologies in the contruction,and research and evaluation skills” I generally believe that I have answered this question , I have went through stages reflecting the stages I went through when creating my 3 media forms which was a music video, digipak and advertisement. I have followed the structure of research – construction – ancillary – evaluation.
