How did you use media technologies
in the research, planning and
evaluation stages?
Question Four
Research and planningYouTube – during the research and planning stage of creating my trailer I
used this site very frequently to research other trailers that would inspire me. It was
very helpful because it meant that I could closely analyse trailers to ensure I could
make a successful one myself.
Google –Google was key throughout all stages of creating my products, it
enabled me to research other similar products successfully and lead me to other
helpful sites such as Wikipedia. Wikipedia showed me the differences between
types of trailers, helping me decide what it was that I wanted to create.
Social media - social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter have
helped greatly in the research and planning section of
my trailer, I was able to get opinions from peers as to
what makes something good, this was very helpful
because it helped inspire me and make decisions
based on my target audience’s thoughts and feelings.
Wordpress - this blogging site enabled me to document my progression
over the allotted period of time. The ease of this is the most helpful aspect of
this particular piece of technology, I am able to post things instantly if I need to.
There is an online site, and an app is also available for iPhones or iPads.
Tumblr - Tumblr is a blogging site mainly full of photos, I used this piece
of technology to get inspiration for photographs and locations, this was helpful
because this website also attracts those that would be interested in my film, so I
was also able to use it as a platform for feedback and advertisement.
Google maps – I used Google maps to plan some locations for filming
a lot of my shots, it was ideal because, although you cant see absolutely every
detail on it, it gives a good perception without having to put extensive effort into
finding a suitable place.
Construction
Camera – I used a HD camcorder to record all of my footage for my
trailer and a Canon EOS 600D to photograph my model for the poster and magazine.
Adobe Photoshop – to edit all of my images that I needed for my
ancillary texts I used this piece of adobe software. It is ideal because there are tutorials on how to make the most of this software and make professional looking images.
Adobe Premiere pro - This piece of software is the creator of my
trailer, it is very easy to use once you get the hang of it, it isn’t the most user friendly of programmes but once again, tutorials are offered to help the user utilise the programme.
Adobe indesign - I used this programme to create both of my
ancillary texts, being my film poster and film magazine. Having used this for my AS portfolio I was familiar with the programme so could improve on my skills.
Evaluation
Prezi - Prezzi is an online application that allows users to ‘present ideas on a
virtual canvas’. I decided to use this site because it presents my evaluation in a
more interesting way than just typing it onto my blog.
Slideshare – I am using this to present this powerpoint, this once again
creates a more interesting evaluation that is more aestetically appealing to the
eye, the ease of use is a definite help with this website, because you only have to
upload a slide show.
Apple iPhone 5 – I have recorded myself on this converged device, it
is very easy to use and can be uploaded onto my blog almost instantly with the
Wordpress application.
