How did you use media technologies in the construction & research, planning and

evaluation stages?

I used my ‘Nikon Coolpix’ camera to take and process the images for my digipak and magazine advert.

I used my ‘Samsung Galaxy S3’ mobile to record voice tracks, play my artist’s song and get extra footage.

I used a ‘HP netbook’ when finalising work away from the use of my home and school computer.

I used the Mac’s at school during the editing process of my music video, as well as for the use of ancillary tasks and preparation tasks.

I used the large lighting available from

the Drama Studio to create the

contrasting light and dark technique –

used in both my music video and

ancillary tasks.

The Tripod was used during the filming process of my music video – it enabled me to retrieve accurate shots and a steady hand/moving motion.

I used my ‘Dell’ PC at home to do planning and research, have easy access to my blog and also to tie together the finalisation of my media coursework.

‘Google’ was used during nearly every stage of my coursework. I used it at a constant pace, and was always my search engine. Google allowed me to retrieve the information I needed to efficiently and quickly

‘Blogger’ was the base of my coursework. It provided a hub of easy accessibility to my work, it also allowed for more creative and challenged us to another media based task.

I used Microsoft’s ‘Paint’ programme at home to create version’s of my ancillary tasks. I found the use and accessibility of ‘Paint’ much easier than those available to me at school. So I continued to use ‘Paint’ on my tasks at home.

‘Microsoft Word’ was used an awful lot during the stages of my coursework, mainly as a preparation guide, where I would type and back up my written work before inserting it on to my blog.

I only experimented with ‘Photoshop’ and I wasn’t impressed from the results and efficiency I received from the programme. I further more switched to online editing sites, and continued my use of ‘Paint’

I used ‘YouTube’ for my research and planning tasks – here I was able to find low budget Indie music videos as well as major artist’s videos. It was also enabling me to upload and edit my final music video, as well as some evaluation and planning pieces. It provided an extra storage for these documents as well as an easy transferring technique to my blog.

‘iTunes’ was used as a basis of storage and accessibility of my artist’s song. It also was helpful when it came to needing to get hold of or view video’s I’d editing on the Mac at home.

I used ‘iMovie’ to edit and process my music video. I found ‘iMovie’ extremely useful and an easy programme to use. I found that I learnt how to use the programme as I went along, which strengthened my capability with the software.

‘iPiccy’ is an online editing software for images. It holds many features the same/similar to those available on ‘Photoshop’. I was grateful to find this software online and was a key editing technique for the photos of my ancillary tasks.

‘Microsoft Publisher’ was used for my research and evaluation tasks. I felt it allowed for a neater and easier position on my blog.

‘Microsoft Excel’ was used to provide the source of data for my coursework – with such things like ‘audience feedback’ and questionnaires.

I used memory sticks during every section of my coursework, they just allowed me to transfer work to and from home at a less complicated pace.

Memory cards provided me with a less complicated way of uploading my footage and images. There were no cables which allowed all of my work to be kept in one storage; and at the use of several different cameras.

The school allowed each student the use of a video camera which I used on school grounds (in example in the drama studio). However, I didn’t use just this camera for my music video and found my own digital camera provided me with better quality footage.

In the process of trying to find a copy of my artist’s song that was actually compatible to the software I was using, I attempted to convert the song from YouTube. However, this also became a difficult process and later found a copy of the song from my artist’s ‘SoundCloud’ account – which she provided me with a link to.

Luckily, my artist had a SOUNDCLOUD and I was able to easily download a copy of the track from this website – which was also compatible with the software I was using.

I used Prezi in the evaluation stages of my coursework. I found this software easy to use, and a fun way to present my work.

My media studies teacher introduced me to ‘Google Docs’ (until then I had never knew it existed). Google Docs allowed me to store all files on my Google account which provided easier accessibility to my work and an more efficient route of uploading them online.

‘SlideShare’ has allowed me to upload Microsoft Presentation documents and convert them to be compatible to my Blogger account. This programme was essential to my use and extremely easy to use. It provided a neater source of presentation on my blog.

I used the webcam on the Macs and my own webcam at home to film some processes of my evaluation. The use of a webcam was more effective than an external camera or a phone as it was saved straight to my PC.
