how do you recycle a city’s valuable water for industrial re-use?
TRANSCRIPT
THE CHALLENGE
Water is crucial to all sectors of industry. It is used as drinking water, boiler water, process water, cooling water, wash water, as protection against fire and to
treat effluent. This resource alone can account for 15% of operational costs.
THE SOLUTION
Rosehill Recycled Water Scheme
The Rosehill Recycled Water Scheme reduces the demand on Sydney’s drinking water supply by providing high volume industrial water users with access to more than four billion litres of recycled water a year.
HOW WE DO IT
Roeshill Recycled Water Plant has been built to produce high quality recycled water, using ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis
processes, with a capacity of 20 megalitres per day from two pump stations, three reservoirs and 20 kilometres of pipeline.
Veolia was responsible for designing, building, and financing the project and now operates and maintains the project under a long
term contract.
Our customised solutions include:
WATER & WASTEWATER TREATMENT
ULTRAFILTRATION REVERSE OSMOSIS
COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
ASSET MANAGEMENT
• 4.3 billion litres a year of highly treated recycled water
• Ensuring water supply security for Sydney Water’s customers
• Saves large amounts of drinking water to support a sustainable water supply for the future
• Reliable alternative water supply for irrigation and industrial processes
• Reduced amount of nutrients from treated wastewater entering the ocean, creeks and rivers
THE OUTCOME
