The problems DMS faces
• To determine the preferred communication method of employees
• To eliminate duplicate and redundant messages• To eliminate unnecessary mass mailings
DMS Health Group provides imaging services (MRI, CT, PET)
• Mobile units travel from hospital to hospital.• Portable x-ray vans service nursing homes.• Medical equipment shipped to hospital facilities
nationwide.
DMS has 451 employees that work in three discrete environments.
• Branch offices 39% • Home offices 11%
• Mobile offices 50%

• Company updates• Benefits information• Urgent messages
How communications are sent
• Company newsletter • E-mail • Employee meetings/conference calls • Telephone/voicemail• U.S. mail
Research Question
Do DMS employees have a preferred method of receiving communications?
Methodology
• Survey delivered to all 451 DMS employees in discrete work environments
– Survey composed of 13 questions– 228 were e-mailed– 223 were mailed via U.S. Mail (for
employees without e-mail access)
