Samuel Adams

“Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his

vote… that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in

human society for which he is accountable to God and his

country.”Whether you eat or drink or

whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. (1 Cor. 10:31)

Gospel Centered Principles of Voting

3rd Principle: The Gospel compels us to vote with God’s purposes in mind - not our own

selfish purposes.

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name your kingdom come, your will be done on

earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10)

Issues Most Central to the Gospel

1) Sanctity of all human life – from the womb to the tomb.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your

workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every

moment was laid out before a single day had passed. (Psalm 139:13-16)

2) Freedom of Religion

The first amendment to the US Constitution says: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise

thereof.”

3) Family & Marriage

But for Adam no suitable helper was found. 21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the

man. 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman, for she was taken out of man.” 24 For this

reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. (Genesis 2:20-24)
