How to Access the Academic Success &Tutoring Center Online

1. Go to ww.Solano.edu 2. Click on the Canvas link

3. Log in to your Canvas account

4. Once you are in Canvas, you’ll see the dashboard with a list of all your courses. Click on the one titled “TUTR 500 Supervised Tutoring.”

5. Once you are in the TUTR 500 shell, click on the link titled “WorldWideWhiteBoard.”

6. Once you are in WorldWideWhiteBoard, you’ll be able to see all the tutors that are currently online. Click on the tutor you want to work with and you’ll be able to join their study session.

7. Once you’re in a study session, you’ll see a whiteboard like the one

below. You can ask tutors any questions you may have and have a tutoring session just like in the ASTC.

8. Additionally, if you prefer, you can meet with tutors over ConferZoom. In the TUTR 500 dashboard, you’ll see a link for ConferZoom. Click on the link to ConferZoom.

9. Once you are in ConferZoom, you’ll be able to see all the tutors that currently have a Zoom session open. Just click on the session you want to join.

10. If you need help outside the ASTC hours, you can also access other tutors online through NetTutor. Click on the “NetTutor” Link.

11. Once you are in NetTutor, you’ll be able to see all the different subjects that you can receive tutoring in.

FAQs 1. Have trouble logging in to Canvas?

If you are having issues logging in to Canvas, please contact the Distance Education office at (707) 864-7127 or de@solano.edu.

2. Don’t see TUTR 500 in your course list?

You will need to enroll in TUTR 500. This is a free service. It is NOT a graded course. It will not appear on your transcripts and it will not affect your GPA. It is simply a way for you to access tutoring resources online.

To register for TUTR 500, please do the following:

Log into My Solano. Click the “Student” tab. Select the “Add or Drop Classes” option. Ensure you’re signing up for Spring 2020 before you continue. Type in any of these CRNs into the text box at the bottom of the

page:

Spring 2020 CRNs: 11070, 11071, 11072

Click “Submit” Review your course list to confirm your enrollment in tutoring.

***Please note that once you enroll, it can take up to 24 hours to update the system. ***

3. What’s the new ASTC online tutoring schedule for our Tutors? Hours: Monday – Friday, 11:00am-3:00pm

Tutored Subjects:

Math (including statistics) English History Chemistry Biology

Nutrition Computer Science Writing/Reading in all subjects French/Spanish

4. What if I need help outside of the hours listed above? o NetTutor

We are happy to announce the availability of online tutoring for all Solano Community College students via NetTutor. Online math tutoring is available 24 hours a day, every day of the week. Writing assignments can be submitted 24 hours a day, every day of the week and all writing submissions to NetTutor will maintain a 48-72 hour turnaround time. All other subjects will follow the NetTutor subject hours for the semester. See the third attachment (SCC’s NetTutor Student User Guide) for more information about NetTutor.

o SCC Library The SCC Librarians and Library staff are also available to support our students and instructors via email, phone, through live chat, and Zoom appointments. Go to https://libguides.solano.edu/distance-education for more information.

5. What if I am used to the MAC lab, and would prefer to receive math tutoring through the MAC?

The MAC Zoom Room is live. Please check the MATH 505 CANVAS announcements page for information on how to join the MAC Zoom Room. A faculty member will be available: Monday - Thursday: 8 AM to 7 PM Friday: 8 AM to 5 PM Saturday/Sunday: 9 AM to 2 PM
