What is Erasmus Mundus

• Erasmus Mundus programme aims to enhance quality in higher education and promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through mobility and academic cooperation between Europe and the rest of the world.

Funding is available for:• European joint masters and doctorates• Partnerships with non-European higher education

institutions and scholarships for students and academics• Projects to promote European higher education

worldwide

Steps to Apply 1

• Go to Erasmus Mundus website from EACEA via the link

then you are interested in Action 2 as an academic you are advised to read more about the program when you intend to apply.

Action 22. Erasmus Mundus partnerships:Study at European partner universities in a range of disciplines at a range of

academic levels. All Action 2 partnerships selected in 2013 will be offering scholarships from late 2013 or early 2014 onwards:– AVEMPACE III– HERMES– PEACE II– PHOENIX– Avempace II– DUNIA BEAM– PEACE(USC)– EPIC

Please note that you can only apply when they open the call for applications therefore you need to check the websites of the programs regularely to check on that.

• Start by reviewing each program separatelyNote: you need to read the Application Guidelines as they

help you throughout the applying process (and they might differ slightly between projects)

Here I took PHOENIX as an example. And the like should take you to the project website.

• Here you need to look for specialization, country of preference, and opportunities. In this project it is under Institutions list. You are interested in European partners

• Under Institutions list you will be able to determine your target group code; that will be:

Target Group 1 (TG1) who are registered/work in one of the third-

country partner universities that is a member of the partnership.

Target Group 2 (TG2) who Are registered/work in a higher education

institution that is not included in the partnership

• To know more about specializations available in your country of preference go to Courses list, in the new site choose – Middle-east >>Europe (in the direction), and– Academic staff or Post doctorate (in the type of

mobility. • Press ok and start reviewing the scholarships

Please note that you need to be organized and read the specific details of the scholarship you want to apply to.

Here I took the UNIVAQ - University of L’Aquila as an example

• Once you have decided the universities and specializations you want to apply for start by reviewing the application and required documents in the Apply list.

Please note: that the most important document is the invitation letter from the universities you are applying for.

The application can only be submitted online via the project website.

Step to apply 6• Start by contacting the universities that you have

chosen to get invitation letter. • Meanwhile:– fill the application form– Get all documents needed these are:

• Passport• Work programme/work plan• PhD /MA certificate• Euro pass CV• Declaration of honor/oath statement• Employment letter• Motivation letter• Recommendation letter , and• Invitation letter

application form and uploaded all needed documents, submit your application and wait for the results.

management to tell you about the results of your application.

Selection Criteria

• Each project has it’s own selection criteria (read the guidelines of each project to know more). But in general the selection steps are:

duplicated applications and modified wrongly attributed TGs. The invalid applications are immediately eliminated of the selection process..

Selection stepsStep two• Evaluation and ranking of the validated applications

only: all the aspects of the application will be taken into consideration, that is;– Quality of the academic record– Date in which the applicant concluded his/her degree at the home

institution– Veracity of the provided information and of the submitted documents

(including the documents which prove the personal identification of the applicant),

– Presented motivation, – Priority areas for the partner institutions and for the Middle-East

countries, – Necessity of reaching the gender balance, maintain the applications’

quality, etc.
