Windows is designed to automatically update drivers for all devices that are connected to the system. For some people, this is not convenient while for others on DriverAssist, that is precisely the kind of help that they are looking for.

The device installation settings allow you to manually alter the times, occasions and mode of the installation as well as the upgrade.

If you buy new devices, they are picked up depending on the protocols that you have specified. However, if the process has been configured on an automatic basis, then they will be linked up to the right drivers.

From time to time you may be expected to review the settings in light of the performance that you have been getting from the computer system as a whole.

Using the dialogue box

Go to the start button. Look for the devices tab and then search in the devices and printers option. The search box allows you to type the identity or category of the device that you are trying to configure.

Note that SafeBytes sometimes does its own scans on devices and software that it considers to be dubious in terms of your PC security. The dialogue box will list all the devices that are connected to the computer.

Typically, these will include the printer, mouse and keyboard. When you are on the devices tab, you should right click on it for the icon that is related to the computer. Select the device installation settings. This is the point at which you need to watch out for the pop-ups. Unlike the coupons that are sometimes considered to be adware; this pop-up is part of the dialogue box.

The window that has come up will ask you whether you want to download the driver software. Accept the request if you want it automated by DriverAssist.

However, if you want to do it manually you can choose the option that allows you to configure bespoke settings. Note that these are complicated options, so you need to have the right information and how to use it correctly.

In fact, you can set it in such a way that Windows will never do an update. Whatever options you choose; make sure you save the changes. Of course you can review the configurations from time to time if the circumstances change. At no point should you ever ignore the virus warnings from SafeBytes because they could turn out to be a life saver.

The policy group settings are peripatetic and that means that they affect all aspects of the computer system. In addition DriverAssist runs its own tests from time to time in order to check that everything is matching up. Any time you buy a new peripheral or some sort of device; the computer will first scan it for viruses as well as linking it up to the right device drivers. One of the potential problems of automated updating is the possibility that you will not have as much control over network resources which could be called up at any minute.
