Slide 3 1) Decide on Layout Start with size and orientation SPAN can accommodate A4 to A0 (or custom) A4 is 21.0cm 29.7cm A3 is 2 A4 (29.7cm 42.0cm) A2 is 2 A3 or 4 A4 (42.0cm 59.4cm) A1 is 2 A2 or 8 A4 (59.4cm 84.0cm) A0 is 2 A1 or 16 A4 (84.0cm 118.8cm) Or Custom to max size 100 cm 130 cm NB Cost is based on Area currently ~$40/m 2. Slide 4 2) CSU Style Manual Defines how to use CSU Logos big section on what NOT to do Can pickup copies of the CSU logo http://www.csu.edu.au/division/marketing/stylemanual Slide 5 3) Create Poster in PPT Need to go into Page Setup and enter the correct page size for poster (use real cm) Hidden in left side of Design Menu for PPT 2007 Posters should have minimal text in easy to read font style and size Diagrams should be clear and colourful (not necessarily gaudy). http://www.csu.edu.au/research/span/rsc/poster_info.pdf Slide 6 3) Create Poster in PPT Pictures need to be high resolution (300dpi) to avoid blockiness or pixilation A large background image will need a higher resolution Images from Web pages are usually ~72dpi. Slide 10 3) Create Poster in PPT Check to make sure that the Page Setup has remained at the specified size during the process Print poster using Fit to Page to see overall layout (either A4 or A3 size) Search for Powerpoint poster design if you need more ideas. Slide 11 4) Send to SPAN Once PPT complete, send to SPAN Files are usually placed in: S:\Common\Special Projects\SPAN\Posters with a folder with the user name (eg School of Accounting and Computer Science or mantolov) Just this time, either email to MA or burn to CD or hand over a copy via a thumb drive.
