Behaviors are influenced by the consequences that follow them. The consequences, or perceived consequences determine the likelihood that we will repeat those behaviors under similar circumstances.

Fear is a strong motivating emotion and has the very function of making us more inclined to avoid a certain behavior and therefore a perceived consequence.

PROBLEMATIC BEHAVIORSProblematic behaviors are also motivated. The problem is that they tend to be motivated by immediate consequences and by the persistence of habitual moods of behaving, rather than long-term desired consequences that may be more sustainable from a quality of life perspective.

more satisfying life in the long-term.
