How to Create a 360 Degree Image in Photoshop
Firstly open Photoshop (there is an icon on the desktop for it) and when you get the option Organise or Edit,
choose Edit. Then go to File – Open – and select the image you want to solarize.
You need to have an image, which has been taken as a panoramic image or several images, which you can stitch
together in Photoshop.
To stitch images together go to File – New – Photomerge Panoramic, it should select Auto and then you click on
Browse and select all of the images you wish to stitch together and press OK.
1. Open your image and then go to Window on the top tool bar and select Undo History – a box will appear in
the bottom right hand corner. This will show you each step you do and if you go wrong you can go back.
2. Double click on the small image of yours in the Layer box on the right hand side, rename the layer to
something appropriate then press OK. This allows you to name your layer and unlocks it so you can change
things with it.
3. To create 360 degree image, we need a bigger canvas, so go to Image – Resize – Canvas Size.
4. You need make the height the same as the width and where it says Anchor click on the bottom middle black
arrow and the bottom three arrows will disappear. This is so your image will be placed at the bottom of the
canvas. Then press OK. If your image is too large to see on the screen go to View – Fit on Screen.
5. Using the Rectangular Marquee Tool (on the left hand side tool bar) draw select your whole image with it.
6. Whatever you want to be in the inside of your final 360 degree image, this needs to be at the top of your
current image and the outside of your final image needs to be at the bottom of your image. As an example if
I want the water to be going around the outside of my 360 degree image I will leave the position of it as
above, but if I want to have it on the inside, then with the image still selected, I need to rotate it 180. Image
– Rotate – Selection 180.
7. Now you need to join the image up, go to Filter – Distort – Polar Coordinates.
8. Make sure the top option is selected Rectangular to Polar and press OK.
9. With the image still selected you now need to pull the image up so it forms a square and fills the canvas. Go
to Image – Transform – Free Transform
10. Clicking on the middle top square on the image, drag the image up so it fills the canvas and then click on the
green tick at the bottom of the image. To deselect the Rectangular Marquee Tool, click anywhere on the
grey background.
11. They’ll be a seam in the middle of the image where it was joined up and you now need to blend this away. It
will take some time to do this. It’s easier to go in closer to the image, so on the left hand tool bar select the
magnifying glass and zoom in to the image to your desired amount. Then on that same tool bar select the
Clone Stamp Tool. To use this tool; on the keyboard hold down alt and click the area you want to clone, then
click over the area to be cloned and the original area you clicked on will be duplicated to cover up what you
need to. Experiment with this tool and its functions, it will take some practice to use it.
12. You could clone the outside of the image so there’s no distortion, like in the clouds in the image below or if it
has a nice effect to it leave it as it is.
