How to Create an Audio CD

1. To Launch Nero StartSmart: Click on Start->All Programs->Burn a CD or Data DVD>Nero StartSmart

2. This brings up the Nero StartSmart window.

3. Now go to the Audio Icon

4. Now click on the icon for ‘Make Audio CD’.

5. This brings up the My Audio CD window. Click on the button to add audio files to be written to disc.

6. This brings up the Select Files and Folders Window. a) Click on any file audio file to highlight, hold the Ctrl key to select individual

audio files, and then click on the ‘Add’ button to add to the project.

b) Or you can Right-Click in the window and choose select all to select all

audio files currently listed in the window. Then click on the button to add the selected files to the project.

7. Once you are done adding files to the project to be burned to CD, click on the ‘Finished’ button.

8. This brings you back to the My Audio CD window. Click on ‘Next’ to go to the

final burn window and create an Audio CD.

9. This brings you to the Final Burn Settings window. To burn a disc, do the following:

a) Select the recorder you wish to burn too. b) Enter information for ‘Title’ and ‘Artist’ if not added automatically. c) Select a writing speed. (Defaults to max write speed allowed by recorder) d) Select the number of copies you want.

Once you have completed steps a thru d, click on the button to begin writing to disc.

10. The Burning Process window opens. This will provide you with the current write speed, recorders buffer level, used read buffer, and Total Time.

11. Immediately after the write process has completed successfully, the data verification process will begin automatically.

12. The next window will indicate that the data verification process was completed successfully. Click OK to proceed.

13. Then click the ‘Next’ button to confirm completion and cause the disc you just created to be ejected from the recorder.

14. Now you are given two choices: a) Cover Designer – (This is a program to create labels and covers for the

CD’s and DVD’s you make.) b) Save Project – (If you expect you will be repeating this process in the

future, you can save the project. [Does not copy actual data]) Or you can just ‘Exit’ the Program.

15. If you click on ‘Exit’ you will be asked if you wish to save the project. In most cases you will choose ‘No’. (Only choose ‘Yes’ if you know you will write this exact same data operation again repeatedly in the future.)
