Instructions

o 1

Decide what purpose you want the sticker to serve, who your target market is and how you anticipate the stickers will be used. Will they promote one of your products or your business in general? Are you trying to create a sticker that will appeal to teens, housewives, other business people and so on? Will the stickers most likely be put on lockers, cars or computers?

o 2

Sketch out a rough idea of how you want your stickers to look. Don't worry about artistic ability. A rough shape such as a circle or square representing your logo or other image used will suffice. Be sure to include any text you want, such as the name of your business, slogan, address and so forth. Keep it simple. The more words and images you use, the harder it will be to get your message across to your customers.

o 3

Open your image-editing program and create a new image the size that you want your sticker to be.

Create a new layer and add clip art, your logo or other image.

Type in any text you want to include. Most image-editing programs will let you choose different fonts, the color of the font and the text alignment (left, right or centered). Make any of these adjustments until the text looks good to you.

Save your image.

o 4

Test your image by printing it on a regular piece of paper. Make any changes if needed to your image and make a test print again. Save any changes you make to your image.

o 5

Open your word-processing program, open a new document and insert your sticker image. Add your sticker image several times until the page is filled. For example, if your sticker design is 2 inches by 2 inches in size, you can probably repeat the image about three times across and four times down. This takes into account margins around the edges of the paper and space between each sticker. Save your document.

o 6

Print a test copy on a regular sheet of paper to make sure it all looks right.

Insert a single sheet of sticker paper into your printer and print. Print only one sheet at a time to prevent the paper from jamming and the ink from smearing.

o 7

Let the ink on the sticker paper sheet dry completely.

o 8

Cut out your stickers with a pair of scissors.

Tips & Warnings

When printing your test copies, choose the "Draft" option in your printer settings to conserve ink.
