A Brief History

The English were the first to start competitive swimming. By 1837, regular swimming competitions were held in London’s six artificial pool, organized by the National Swimming Society of England. The amateur swimming association of Great Britain was organized in 1860 which had 300 swim clubs. In 1896 swimming became an Olympic sport for men’s 100 and 1500 meter freestyle.
