How  to  Get  (Massive)  Traffic    From

Pinterest  to  Your  Blog        Pinterest  is  one  of  the  top  social  networks  driving  traffic  to  blogs,  and  if  done  right,  it  can  massively  increase  the  visitors  that  read  your  blog  on  a  daily  basis.    In  this  guide  you’ll  find  exactly  how  to  do  it.    Although  it  takes  time  to  start  seeing  results,  there  are  some  tips  &  tricks  that  can  speed  up  the  process.        Here  they  are:      Have  high  quality  images  on  each  blog  post    It  doesn’t  matter  what  industry  you’re  in  or  what  topic  you’re  writing  about.  If  you  want  to  get  traffic  to  your  blog  coming  from  Pinterest,  you  need  to  add  high  quality  images  to  each  blog  post  you  write.

Page 2: How to Get Massive Traffic from Pinterest to Your Blog

The  reason?  Well  not  only  Pinterest  is  a  visual  website,  but  you’re  competing  against  hundreds  of  other  pins  with  the  same  topic  and  you  need  to  stand  out.    You  can  either  take  and  edit  the  pictures  yourself,  get  a  photographer,  or  use  one  of  many  image  banks  on  the  web  to  get  pictures  from.    The  images  need  to  be:

• High  resolution  • Appealing  to  your  audience  • Related  to  the  topic  of  the  blog  post

Also,  make  sure  you  pin  vertical  images  since  they’re  Pinterest’s  perfect  size:

Strike  an  Emotion  With  Your  Images    One  trick  to  get  your  pins  to  stand  out  on  Pinterest  is  to  add  images  that  strike  an  emotion,  and  make  it  a  positive  one.

Page 3: How to Get Massive Traffic from Pinterest to Your Blog

An  image  that  is  funny,  cute,  inspiring,  and  ignite  a  positive  emotion  on  your  audience  increases  its  chances  to  be  repined  and  cliked.    Remember:  Pinterest  is  a  lifestyle  oriented  social  network.  So,  add  images  that  your  audience  relate  to  that  desired  lifestyle  and  make  them  FEEL  it.

Add  the  Titles  of  Your  Blog  Posts  in  the  Images    The  image  below  is  example  of  one  of  the  most  visited  blog  posts  in  my  own  blog:

Adding  the  post  titles  in  your  images  is  a  great  way  to  encourage  people  to  click,  so  also  make  sure  your  titles  are  appealing.    I  personally  use  Canva.com  to  create  all  images  for  my  blog.  It  is  super  easy  to  use  and  a  real  life-‐saver  when  you’re  not  exactly  a  graphic  designer!

Schedule  and  Share  Different  Images  Every  Week    Hold  on  to  your  seat,  because  this  is  a  really  JUICY  trick  on  Pinterest!    Instead  of  pining  only  one  image  per  blog  post,  you’ll  want  to  pin  several.    This  doesn’t  mean  however  that  you  need  to  add  20  or  more  images  on  each  of  your  blog  posts,  what  would  be  really  annoying.    It  means  that  you  can  create  images  that  won’t  even  show  on  your  blog.  The  purpose  of  those  images  is  only  to  be  pinned  on  Pinterest  linked  to  a  specific  blog  post  and  therefore  increase  the  repins,  clicks  and  traffic  on  your  blog.    This  also  means  that  you  can  pin  a  different  image  linked  to  a  blog  post  every  week  (or  even  daily),  mixed  in  your  pining  schedule  with  other  pins  and  repins.    You  never  know,  you  can  have  one  of  these  images  going  viral  and  be  a  main  source  of  traffic  to  your  blog.  So  the  more  you  pin  different  images  linked  to  the  same  blog  post,  the  more  chances  you  have.    Again,  make  sure  they’re  all  high  quality  images.

Add  Keywords  on  the  Pin’s  Description    Make  sure  you  write  a  compelling  description  to  your  pin.      Instead  of  just  writing  the  blog  title,  try  instead  to  ask  a  hot  question  about  the  topic.  Or  give  a  bit  of  great  information  so  your  description  acts  like  a  teaser  making  people  want  to  click  and  know  more.    Make  sure  though  you  only  write  a  small  paragraph.  The  goal  is  for  people  to  quickly  click  and  go  to  your  blog.

Page 5: How to Get Massive Traffic from Pinterest to Your Blog

Add  the  Link  to  the  Pin’s  Description    When  you  pin  from  your  website,  the  link  is  automatically  added  to  the  image.    But  a  VERY  clever  way  to  increase  the  clicks  on  your  pins  is  to  add  the  link  into  the  pin’s  description.    This  way  you  give  people  two  ways  of  clicking  and  go  to  your  blog:  on  the  image  itself  and  on  the  description.    I’ve  seen  a  massive  increase  in  traffic  myself  in  my  blog  when  I’ve  started  using  this  technique  and  added  the  links  to  all  my  blog  posts  on  Pinterest.

Add  a  Call-‐to-‐Action  to  the  Pin’s  Description    On  online  marketing  in  general,  calls-‐to-‐action  are  KEY!  You  add  them  to  your  email  marketing,  paid  advertising,  website,  etc,  and  you  also  need  to  add  them  to  your  pins.

Page 6: How to Get Massive Traffic from Pinterest to Your Blog

On  the  pin’s  description  tell  people  exactly  what  they  need  to  do.  You  can  write  things  such  as  “click  here”,  “get  this  offer  here”,  “read  more”,  “visit:”,  etc.

A  pin’s  description  that  makes  people  want  to  know  more,  together  with  a  call-‐to-‐action  and  a  link,  it’s  a  powerful  combination!

Have  a  Board  Just  for  Blog  Posts    You  need  to  create  a  board  for  the  sole  purpose  of  pining  your  blog  posts.    This  means  you  won’t  be  repining  from  other  sources  in  here.

Page 7: How to Get Massive Traffic from Pinterest to Your Blog

This  makes  it  easier  for  your  followers  to  find  and  repin  your  blog  posts.    If  your  blog  has  different  categories,  you  can  even  create  a  board  specific  for  each  one.    For  example,  if  you  write  a  blog  about  Vegetarian  Recipes,  you  can  create  a  board  for  Breakfast,  another  for  Dinner,  another  for  Quick  Meals,  etc.

Pin  into  Several  Boards    If  you  have  a  board  on  Pinterest  just  for  your  blog  posts,  that’s  great,  well  done!  That’s  the  first  board  your  should  pin  your  posts  into.    But  don’t  just  pin  once  into  that  board.    As  part  of  your  Pinterest  strategy  you  should  have  other  boards  that  are  related  to  your  industry  and  topics  and  appealing  to  your  audience.    So,  if  one  (or  more)  of  your  other  boards  is  related,  pin  into  them  too.    For  example,  I  do  have  a  board  on  Pinterest  for  my  blog  posts  about  Pinterest  Marketing,  but  I  also  have  a  board  named  “Social  Media  Marketing”  and  I  make  sure  my  blog  posts  go  on  that  board  too.    Why  should  you  do  this?

Page 8: How to Get Massive Traffic from Pinterest to Your Blog

Many  people  don’t  follow  you  and  all  your  boards,  they  only  follow  one  or  two  boards  you  have,  so  they  might  not  see  your  blog  post  on  your  blog  posts  board,  but  see  it  in  another  board  they  follow.

Pin  into  Group  Boards        Being  a  contributor  and  pining  into  top  group  boards  should  be  a  part  of  your  Pinterest  marketing  strategy.    Make  sure  you  pin  your  blog  posts  into  those  group  boards  and,  if  you’re  creating  different  images  to  pin,  pin  them  all  too.    Just  make  sure  you  follow  the  rules  of  each  group  board  on  how  often  and  what  to  pin.    Use  the  tool  PinGroupie  if  you  wish  to  easily  find  top  group  boards  on  your  niche.

Have  a  popular  Pinterest  Account    Pinterest  has  something  called  Smart  Feed.    This  means  that  it  will  judge  your  Pinterest  account  based  on  how  relevant  and  popular  it  is  in  order  to  show  and  recommend  your  pins  and  boards  to  other  people.    So  what  this  means  is  the  more  repins  and  likes  you  have  on  the  pins  you  share  (original  pins  and  repins)  the  more  Pinterest  sees  your  account  as  high  quality  and  popular  and  you’ll  move  up  on  the  Smart  Feed  rankings.    So  make  sure  first  of  all  that  you  only  repin  high  quality  pins  from  others!  Pins  that  already  have  repins  and  that  are  indeed  linked  to  the  right  website  or  blog.

Page 9: How to Get Massive Traffic from Pinterest to Your Blog

Also,  at  least  once  a  month  you  need  to  “clean”  your  Pinterest  account  and  get  rid  of  any  pins  that  have  zero  repins  and  likes.    Actually,  I’ll  even  go  a  step  further  and  ask  you  to  delete  all  pins  that  have  less  than  5  repins,  if  you  want  a  popular  and  high  quality  account  on  Pinterest.    If  you’ve  never  done  this  before,  you’ll  pretty  quickly  see  an  increase  on  repins  and  likes  on  your  account.    And  you’ll  be  amazed  how  you’ll  increase  the  number  of  followers  and  clicks  to  your  blog  by  doing  this!

Send  Pins  to  Industry  Influencers    Pinterest  is  great  to  reach  and  connect  with  industry  influencers:  other  bloggers,  media,  speakers,  etc.  The  ones  that  have  hundreds  of  followers.    Take  advantage  of  the  feature  “Send”  on  each  pin  and  send  pins  to  them  on  Pinterest  by  typing  their  profile  name  or  their  email  address.    Make  sure  though  that  you  also  write  something  to  accompany  the  pin  you’re  sending  with  the  goal  of  creating  a  relationship,  not  just  asking  to  be  repinned  or  followed.    And  of  course,  make  sure  your  blog  post  is  high  quality  stuff.    A  repin  or  like  from  an  industry  influencer  with  thousands  of  followers  can  get  you  tons  of  traffic  to  your  website.

Page 10: How to Get Massive Traffic from Pinterest to Your Blog

You  can  even  invite  one  of  these  influencers  to  write  a  guest  post  on  your  blog  and  then  pin  it  to  Pinterest  with  the  @mention  feature,  so  they’ll  repin  it.

Follow  Your  Targeted  Audience      Every  week  make  sure  you  follow  new  people  on  Pinterest.    You  can  find  potential  followers  for  example  by  searching  people  that  follow  group  boards  on  your  niche  or  that  are  following  other  bloggers  or  businesses  on  your  niche.    Since  they’re  interested  in  your  topics  already  and  they’re  your  targeted  audience,  it’s  easy  for  them  to  follow  you  and  get  them  interested  in  your  content  and  visiting  your  blog.

Add  Share  Buttons  to  Your  Blog  Posts    For  each  of  your  blog  posts  make  sure  you  have  social  media  share  buttons,  so  people  can  easily  pin  your  content  into  Pinterest  (and  also  share  on  other  social  media  networks  such  as  Facebook  or  Twitter).    Remember,  every  pin  stays  forever  on  Pinterest!      This  means  that  every  time  someone  pins  your  content,  it’s  a  pin  that  will  sit  on  their  boards  for  a  long  time  and  be  seen  by  their  followers.

If  you  use  Wordpress  there  are  several  plugins  that  will  add  share  buttons  to  your  posts.

Verify  Your  Website    Make  sure  your  verify  your  website  so  you’ll  get  access  to  website  stats  on  Pinterest.    You’ll  know  which  of  your  original  pins  that  come  from  your  blog  are  the  most  repined  and  liked.    Also,  make  sure  you  have  Google  Analytics  on  your  website  to  you  track  the  traffic  coming  from  Pinterest.

Add  Article  Pins    Article  Pins  are  a  type  of  Rich  Pins.

Page 12: How to Get Massive Traffic from Pinterest to Your Blog

Article  Pins  let  users  know  that  they're  clicking  on  a  page  with  original  content  that  tells  a  story.  Article  Pins  include  a  headline,  author  and  story  description.    According  to  Pinterest,  “Rich  Pins  show  metadata  right  on  the  Pin  itself,  giving  Pinners  a  richer  experience  and  increasing  engagement.    Information  in  a  Rich  Pin  is  independent  of  the  Pin  description,  ensuring  that  important  information  is  always  tied  to  the  Pin.”    For  driving  traffic  to  your  blog,  these  pins  will  add  an  incredible  boost.      You  need  to  apply  to  Pinterest  in  order  to  add  Rich  Pins  to  your  site.  Before  you  do,  you  have  to  have  a  blog  site  that  meets  the  Rich  Pin  requirements,  and  you  need  to  add  particular  metatag  data  to  your  site.    Visit  Pinterest’s  Developer  Page  for  more  details.
