HOW TO HELP KIDS BY NOT ‘HELPING’ THEM

WITH HOMEWORK

Page 2: How to Help Kids by NOT ‘Helping’ them with Homework

There are times when kids need a little help with their Homework; and there are times when adults ‘help’ them by doing their entire Homework for them.

Doing their entire Homework for kids cannot help kids in the long run – if at all, it can only harm them.

Let us consider some of the ways how we can help kids by NOT ‘helping’ them with Homework.

Is the kid seeking help with an essay, or a math problem? The most that can be done is, the kid can be given a few points and hints, and then, encouraged to think for himself/herself.This will enable the kid to reflect, recollect, and even revise. If s/he gets the Homework ‘help’ in the form of a ready-made answer, none involved shall ever know how much the kid has learnt – and followed.

Let kids Learn to Think for Themselves

When kids do their Homework themselves, they realize how much time it takes. With time, they learn to schedule their activities in such a manner that it leaves them enough time for studies and Homework. This process teaches kids discipline and time-management.Had kids received their Homework done-and-ready, they would never have known how much time it should take, and could have faced a problem during classes and examinations, answering questions all by themselves.

Let kids Know the Value of Time

When kids know that they can do their work themselves, they develop confidence and feel a pride and satisfaction that doing their work for them can never make them feel. Kids need this confidence to progress in the world. It cannot be possible for them to always have someone to do their work for them, therefore kids need to learn doing their work themselves.

Let kids be Confident

What happens when we draw their diagrams for them, or ‘help’ them with their Art and Crafts work? We take away from our kids the chance to hone their skills.Kids need and deserve to know how Skilled they are, and can develop to be.The Skills that the schools try to develop in kids are for them to enjoy and employ; when kids have others doing their work, they can seldom develop their Skills to the fullest.

Let kids be Skilled

All of us love independence; let kids know, respect, cherish and enjoy it from as early in life as possible. Let kids know their own Power to bring Improvement in their Lives.Let kids understand that they can succeed in doing things that might seem difficult, but are necessary. They need not depend on others to bring them Success – they can very well achieve Success.

The Right Guidance on Time can Enhance Education.

Let kids not Depend on Others
