Journals follow the same classification scheme as books (LC), but with slight
differences on their labels:
1.Go to the journals shelf and search for the title you need by its call number.
2.After locating the needed journal, search for the date, volume, and issue number
that you need. Check the page numbers and then you will find the article you need.
Remember that these information you can get from the article citation.
Note: the displayed journals are the current ones, while the back volumes are
usually shelved on special shelves.
KU libraries offer an Inter Library Loan (ILL) service for faculty members and graduate
students. This service provides articles not available within KU libraries’ collection,
and it is based on the British library as well as the Arabian Gulf countries' libraries.
Faculty members or graduates can ask for this service from the reference librarian.
How to evaluate Web resources?
There's lots of good information on the Internet, but you will also find opinions,
misconceptions, and inaccurate information. How do you judge the quality of
Internet resources?
Web sites are usually judged on the following criteria:
1.Authority: you should know who created the page and if he or she stating fact or
opinion.

Issue No.
2.Authenticity: Is the information authentic or not?and this simply can be
recognized by checking the URL if it ends with (org.edu). Does the site ends with a
bibliography citing its references?
3.Timeliness: Is the information current? Consider the currency and timeliness of the
information.
4.Relevance: Is the information helpful? Think about whether you need this
information for your research.
5.Efficiency: Is the information well‐organized including a table of contents, index,
menu, and other easy‐to‐follow tools for navigation? Is the information quick to
access.
6.Currency: When was the site created, and updated? Are there any dead links on
the site?
How to cite your references?
At the end of an assignment or a research paper, you must list all the publications
you have referred to (cited) in your writing. There are many different styles of citing
references.
There are some popular citation styles, but before you choose the appropriate style
you have to consult you instructor for the preferred citation style. Here are some of
the citations styles:
APA (American Psychological Association) http://www.apastyle.org/
MLA (Modern Language Association)
