RosesCentre:

• Use the needle nose pliers and bend a hook on one end of the wire.

• Knead a small amount of the red gumpaste, till its very malleable and smooth.

• Roll a small amount of the red gumpaste into a smooth ball, press really hard when rolling to get rid of any cracks.

• Put the bottom end of your palms together, creating a V, place the ball in between your hands and roll one end of it to create a teardrop, get the point as sharp as you can.

• Measure your cone against one of the petals on the cutter, your cone should be the same size.

• Use the lighter and burn the hooked end of your wire, as soon as the wire is really hot, pull it through your bud, from the top till it reaches the middle of the cone.

• If you can make these the day before and leave them to dry completely.

RosesPreparing the petals:

• Knead a small amount of the red gumpaste, till its very malleable and smooth.

• Dust your work surface with a small amount of cornflour.

• Using your rolling pin, roll out the gumpaste till it’s a thin as you can get it, 1mm or less.

• Make sure the paste is not stuck to your work surface.

• Use the easy rose cutter and cut out the flower, same size as the dried centre.

• Place the cut out on the soft blue foam.

• Use the ball tool to thin out the edges, roll the ball tool over the edges, this will thin it out and ruffle it at the same time.

RosesBuds:

• Flip the cut out over.• Look at it as a person, head at the top,

arms to the side and legs down the bottom.

• Brush a thin layer glue on the arms, covering the entire petal (1.).

• Place the dried centre through the middle of the cut out and pull the wire down.

• Carefully pull the petals up to the point of the centre and glue down the right side, leaving the left open to tuck the other petal underneath, interlocking the two.

• Try and cover the top of the cone, you are not suppose to see it.

• Place a thin layer of the glue on the bottom 3rd of the remaining three petals (2.).

• Carefully pull the petals up to the point of the centre and glue down the right side, leaving the left open to tuck the other petal underneath, overlapping the petals. You can than curl over (curl back) the petals to open up the rose.

• Knead a small amount of the red gumpaste, till its very malleable and smooth.

• Dust your work surface with a small amount of cornflour.

• Using your rolling pin, roll out the gumpaste till it’s a thin as you can get it, 1mm or less.

• Make sure the paste is not stuck to your work surface.• Use the easy rose cutter and cut out the flower, same

size as the dried centre.• Place the cut out on the soft blue foam.• Use the ball tool to thin out the edges, roll the ball

tool over the edges, this will thin it out and ruffle it at the same time.

• Brush a thin layer of glue in the middle and on the bottom 3rd of all 5 petals.

• Push the wire of the bud through the middle of the cut out and pull the wire down.

• Pull up the head of the cut out and glue it in place, repeat with all five petals making sure they overlap. (each row of petals should be hire that your centre).

• If you want your rose to be bigger just repeat the proses using a larger cutter every time.

• When you are happy with the size of your rose, bend the wire and hang the flower up, upside down as all the weight might cause the outer petals to fall off.

RosesRose Leaves:

• Knead a small amount of the green gumpaste till its very malleable and smooth.

• Dust your work surface with a small amount of cornflour.

• Using your rolling pin, roll out the gumpaste to approx 3mm thick.

• Cut out a leaf using the rose leaf plunger cutter, vein the leaf by stamping it and push it out onto the soft blue foam, repeat to cut out the 3 different sizes.

• Thin out the outer edge of the leaves using the ball tool.

• Dip one end of the (straight) wire into the edible glue and insert it into the leaves, push it up as high as possible to prevent the ends of the leaves snapping off once they have dried.

• Leave them to dry over night.• Once the leaves are dry you can brush them

with petal dusts (green, yellow, orange, red, gold whatever colours you prefer).

• To set the colour on the leaves, run them through the steam from a boiling kettle for 3-5 seconds and leave them to dry,

• Bend each leaf, except the largest one, somewhere in the middle.

• Bend one leaf to the right and the matching size to the left.

• Follow the picture to know where the leaves would go.

• Tape the leaves in place, taping one leaf at a time, starting with the medium ones and ending with the smallest leaves.

RosesPasta Machine Instructions:

• The pasta machine is a great tool to use to roll out your paste, you can get the paste really, really thin, it will always be the exact same thickness and it speeds things up.

• Always make sure to knead your paste before you use it.

• Flatten the gumpaste to make sure it will go through the pasta machine easier.

• Set the pasta machine to its lowest/thickest setting, normally a 0/1.

• Roll the paste through the pasta machine on this setting.

• Tighten the pasta machine and put the paste through again, repeat this process to about a 5/6 on your pasta machine, depending on the brand.

• Then cut out your flowers as per normal.

Cleaning the Pasta Machine:

• Never place the pasta machine in water, this will rust the mechanism and you will then need to replace it.

• Use a damp cloth, ring out all the water, instead.

• Hold the damp cloth on the rollers and crank the handle.

• Dry with a tea towel.
