G Major Pentatonic Scale on 4 Different Positions on the Fret board This lesson is related to the previous one where we checked out G Major Scale on 5 different positions on the fret board; here we will see a derivative scale of G Major Scale, which is the G Major Pentatonic Scale and how to play it in different positions on the guitar fret board. “Penta” meaning 5, so this scale has only 5 notes in it. G Major Pentatonic Scale notes are G-A-B-D- E-G 1 st Position This is the standard position where G Major Pentatonic scale is played when you first learn it. In this position, the scale notes are in a box like pattern. G Major Pentatonic Scale on 4 Different Positions on the Fret board This lesson is related to the previous one where we checked out G Major Scale on 5 different positions on the fret board; here we will see a derivative scale of G Major Scale, which is the G Major Pentatonic Scale and how to play it in different positions on the guitar fret board. “Penta” meaning 5, so this scale has only 5 notes in it. 1st Position This is the standard position where G Major Pentatonic scale is played when you first learn it. In this position, the scale notes are in a box like pattern. You will find 2 fret board diagrams for all the positions in this lesson, one has the scale notes and the other one tells you which fingers to use for each note on the fret board. 2nd Position This is a stretched out version of this scale which starts on the 3rd fret of 6th String (E) and ends on the 8th fret of 2nd string (B). The slanting lines indicate that you need to slide down from one note to the other.

3rd Position As the 3rd position you will learn to play this scale on a higher pitch. This is a box like pattern of the scale starting on the 10th fret of the 5th string (A) and ending on the 15th

4th Position This is the highest position (or octave) where you can play the G Major Pentatonic scale on a guitar fret-board. This position starts on the 15th fret of the 6th String (E) and progresses all the way across the fret board in a box like shape and ends on the 15th fret of the 1st string. There are two octaves in this position too.
