G Minor Pentatonic Scale Notes – G A# C D F G derived from the Minor Pentatonic Scale Formula R b3 4 5 b7 ( which based on the Major Scale Formula WWHWWWH). 1 st Position The first position of G Minor Pentatonic Scale starts on the 3 rd fret of the 6 th string (E), which is the standard position for this Scale. It spans over 2 octaves (i.e. you can play the scale in 2 different pitches) and ends on the 3 rd fret of the 1 st string (e). Practice Tip: You can practice the scale in ascending and descending order preferably using a metronome. A Metronome can improve your timing and bring about incredible perfection in your playing. First start off slowly and gradually try to increase the speed. Never hurry up and be patient! Because it takes time to develop speed.

1st Position The first position of G Minor Pentatonic Scale starts on the 3rd fret of the 6th string (E), which is the standard position for this Scale. It spans over 2 octaves (i.e. you can play the scale in 2 different pitches) and ends on the 3rd fret of the 1st string (e). 2nd Position The second position starts on the 10th fret of the 5th string (A) and spans over 2 octaves. In this position you have to slide your 3rd finger from the 10th fret to the 12th fret (on the 4th string) i.e. from the note C to D and from G to A# (12th to 15th fret) on the 3rd string (please refer the diagram below) for smoother playing.

3rd Position In the 3rd position G Minor Pentatonic Scale starts on the 15th fret of the 6th string and ends on the 15th fret of the 1st string. The scale is spread over 2 octaves in this position too.
