Tutorial: Pointing Your Domain to Brain Host If you have a domain hosted with another web host, you can easily point it to Brain Host. Some reasons you may choose to point your domain to Brain Host rather than transfer your domain include:

• Your domain is under the 60-day hold placed on new domains and recently transferred domains. You cannot transfer domains that are under this hold, but you can point them instead.

• You prefer to manage your domain through your current registrar but want to host your website through Brain Host.

In order to point your domain to Brain Host, you need to make sure of the following things:

1. You have an existing domain name to point.

2. You have access to the domain (through your registrar).

3. You have Brain Host's nameservers. Our nameservers are: 1) ns1.dnsace.com 2) ns2.dnsace.com

In order to point your domain to Brain Host, you need to change your nameservers to Brain Host's nameservers (listed above). You do this through your current registrar. The process for doing this is different for every registrar, and you should contact your registrar if you need help changing your nameservers. For most registrars, you can log into your account and then look for your nameservers in your DNS Settings menu.

If You Do Not Have a Hosting Account with Brain Host If you do not already have a hosting account with Brain Host, visit http://www.brainhost.com and click on "Sign Up Now." On the next page, check the box next to "Update DNS" in the "Transfer My Domain" box and enter in the domain name you want to point to Brain Host.

You can then click "Continue" and continue the sign up process.

If You Already Have a Hosting Account with Brain Host If you already have a hosting account with Brain Host, your first step is to log into your Brain Host cPanel. Remember, to log into your cPanel, add /cPanel to the end of your URL. For example, if your URL is www.mysite.com, you would get to your cPanel by going to www.mysite.com/cpanel. Click on "Addon Domains" in the "Domains" box.

Where it says "New Domain Name" enter in the name of the domain you are pointing to Brain Host. Hit the "Tab" key. This will automatically fill in the rest of the information. In the "Document Root" box, delete "public_html/" if you see it there (it's highlighted in the image below). Where it says "Password (Again)" retype your password. Then click "Add Domain."

On the next screen you will see a message letting you know that your addon domain has been created.

Next, contact your current registrar and have them change your nameservers to Brain Host's nameservers (ns1.dnsace.com and ns2.dnsace.com).

After You Point Your Domain Please note that once you change your nameservers it will take 24 – 48 hours for your new nameservers to propagate. During this time, you should not try to access your domain.
