So you have an exam tomorrow?
• If you feel you’ve done what you could have, just go to bed
• A good night sleep can do wonders for our ability to recall information we have learnt
• But what if you haven’t put enough work into it?
• What can you do to prepare for an exam overnight?
If you have an exam tomorrow
and you have not prepared for
it
• It’s not all doomed• You can still improve your chances of
passing that exam tomorrow• Keep reading for my three tips ->
3 things you can do to improve
your chances of passing that exam
tomorrow
1. Try learning for understanding:
When reading about a topic/concept, focus on- Grasping the meaning- Getting the ‘gist’ first; then the details (if you have to)- Try connecting new knowledge with what you already know
3 things you can do to improve
your chances of passing that exam
tomorrow
2. Get some sleep
- Best if you get a full night sleep- But if you can’t power naps can boost your ability to focus- Power nap = 15-20 min max; get comfy and set your alarm- Get up when the alarm rings!
3 things you can do to improve
your chances of passing that exam
tomorrow
3. Consider cramming if you have toCramming is a bad study technique because info we ‘cram’ does not stick in out memory, so if you have to cram:
- Focus on most important things at the beginning and at the end of your session- Squeeze in some testing/do exam problems- If you don’t have time for reading, just do exam problems- Try to re-create the exam situation (timing, lightning, sitting at
the desk)
