How to prepare for MAT and Tips to Succeed in the ExamMAT or Management Aptitude Test is conducted by All India Management Association and is quitesimilar to CAT but is comparatively easier and it gives an opportunity to get admission to some of thebest management colleges and institutes. The exams are usually held four times a year and its score isaccepted by more than 250 colleges across India. Students have the option to either take the paperbased test or the computer enabled test.Following are the few tips which will help you to excel the exam and achieve your goal.Know your strengths and weaknessYou can make a plan to the destination well if you know the start point. You need to understandyour strengths and weaknesses for any test preparation so that you can plan to turn yourweaknesses into strengths and ignore certain weaknesses if they are not important from exampoint of view and also improve upon your strengths.Read newspapersThis is very important preparation strategy as far as working on your current affairs isconcerned. If you are studying for MBA entrance exam, you must thoroughly read thenewspaper daily.Take mock tests MAT is one B-school entrance exam which tests two important aspects: speed and accuracy.Both have to go hand in hand. For increasing your speed, while taking mock tests you shouldsolve questions using alternate methods particularly in Math. You should devote time analyzingquestions and devising logical methods during your mock testsPractice hardDont forget that only learning by reading chapters in a book will take you nowhere. It isquestions that you need to answer correctly in the test and thus extensive practice is importantAbout the testThe duration for MAT exam is 2.5 hours and it is divided into five sections. The questions areobjective type with multiple choice answers. The test judges a candidate on his general aptitudeand it consists of 200 questions. The test also has a provision of negative marking for incorrectanswers and deducts 25% of the marks allotted to the question in case a wrong answer is given.
