How to read your schedule!
You will want your schedule in front of you while viewing this presentation.
Sample Schedule
• This is how your schedule looks when it is printed.
• Now, let’s take a look at each section.

• Each student will be assigned a student ID number that is unique to him/her.
• It will be 6 numbers. • This number stays the
same as you stay in a York County school.
• You will need to memorize this number when you buy lunch once we return to the building.

Top Sections
• The top sections include student name and other demographic information.
• Lockers will not be issued this year.

Period Column
• The first column reads “Period” but we now call them “Blocks”.
• It tells you which block you have each course.

Sem Column • The second column reads “Sem” for semester and tells you how long you will be in each course and what part of the year.
• FY – means Full Year• S1 – means Semester 1
(first half of the year)• S2 – means Semester 2
(second half of the year)• Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 – means
which Quarter of the year

Days Column
• The third column reads “Days” and that tells you which day you will have each course.
• A – course will be on A Days• B – course will be on B Days• A,B – course will be on both
days (A and B)

• The fourth column reads “Room” and that is the room number for each course.
• Once we return to the building, use the school map to see where your courses are located.

Course and Sec Columns
• The fifth and sixth columns show the “Course” number and the “Sec” (Section) number.
• This is for teachers and school counselors to use.

• The seventh and eighth columns show the “Course Name” and the “Teacher”.
• The teachers’ names are listed as their first initial and then last name.
• Example “MYoung” –This teacher’s last name is Young.

Fee Column
• The ninth column reads “Fee” and shows the fee for that particular course.
• The total of the fees is at the bottom of the column.
A Day - B Day ScheduleNow, let’s take your schedule
and create an A Day – B Day grid.

• On an A Day, 1A is your first course on that day and then so on, 2A, 3A, and 4A.
• On a B Day, 1B is your first course on that day and then so on, 2B, 3B, and 4B.
• On your schedule look at the “Period” column which represents our “Blocks”
• You will also need to look at the “Days” column to determine if your course meets on an A day, a B day, or both days (A,B).
• Add your course and teacher into the blank schedule grid.

Virtual Weekly Schedule
• Students will follow an A/B day rotation schedule on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
• Wednesdays are student support and independent learning days, except for the first week of
school.
• Attendance - Students will be expected to attend all scheduled classes on A/B days and report to their 1A class on Wednesdays. Class attendance and daily attendance will be taken.
Daily Virtual Schedule • All class blocks are 70 minutes
• Lunch is 30 minutes
• Transitions are 15 minutes (Transition time
is for restroom/water breaks, and
gathering materials for the next class)
• Academic Flex Blocks are 35 minutes
• Academic Flex Blocks can be used for
additional time with teachers for
academic interventions, school counselor
check-ins and small groups, brain breaks,
book talks, independent work time,
academic tutorial, mentoring, and
enrichment activities.

Tips: Include the class and teacher. You may want to make one schedule for S1 and one for S2 if you have
semester electives. If a class says it is in block 1AB, for example, it means it meets every day.

Wednesday ScheduleStudent Support and Independent Learning Day
• Each Wednesday (excluding Sept. 9, 2020), students will need to follow each teacher’s expectations for the day, as to whether they will be completing independent work/studying, collaborating with other students, or joining a scheduled student support session.
• Students will also have the option to participate in content-based student support sessions throughout the day
• All Students will be expected to login to their 1A class
at 8:00 a.m. for attendance.
