HOW TO REMOVE RUST STAINS FROM STAINLESS STEEL SURFACES

Rust stains may occur whenever iron or steel objects are left for a long period of time in contact with stainless steel surfaces. Cleaning methods depend on the level of rusting.

PROCEDURE 1• Removethemagneticswitch. 2• Takethewheeloutofthecage. 3• Removeanydustinsidethewheel. 4• Applyacreamdetergentspecificallydesignedforstainlesssteelsurfaces. 5• Gentlyrubthesurfacewithasoftdampcloth. 6• Rinsecarefullywithdemiwater. 7• Wipedrywithacleansoftcloth. 8• Ifthestainisstillpresent,removetheresidualstainwitha3MScotch-BriteTM abrasive pad. 9• Rinsecarefullywithdemiwater. 10• Wipedrywithacleansoftcloth. 11• If none of these solutions work, it might be necessary to apply a passivating or pickling product specific for stainless steel.

TO STERILIZE THE ACTIVITY WHEEL AUTOCLAVE AT 121°C. IT IS POSSIBLE TO AUTOCLAVE THE FULLY ASSEMBLED CAGE AT 121°C.

HOW TO REMOVE LIMESTONE SCALING FROM STAINLESS STEEL SURFACES

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT •Non-abrasiveproductspecificallydesignedtoremovelimestonescalingfromstainlesssteelsurfaces. •Softclothorsoftsponge •Demiwater.

PROCEDURE 1• Removethemagneticswitch. 2• Takethewheeloutofthecage. 3• Removeanydustinsidethewheel. 4• Wipe the surfaces with a soft cloth or paper towel/wiper dampened with a product specifically recommended to remove limestone scaling from stainless steel surfaces. Wipe the wheel beams carefully. 5• Rinsethesurfacewithdemiwater. 6• Dry stainless steel surfaces and interstices between the wheel beams carefully with a paper towel/wiper.

HOW TO MOUNT THE MAGNETS ON THE WHEEL:

1• Hold the magnet against the wheel side aligning the magnet hole with the hole on the wheel surface.2• Gentlyscrewthemagnettothewheelasillustratedbelow:

To remove magnets loosen the nut using an adjustable wrench and remove the screw as illustrated below:

1• Put the magnetic switch on the wheel support inserting the thumbscrew into the hole on the wheel support. The white part of the magnetic switchmustbepositionednexttothewheel.2• Fix the magnetic switch turning the thumbscrew headclockwiseasillustratedbelow:

HOW TO ASSEMBLE TECNIPLAST ACTIVITY WHEEL:

1• Placethelidontheplasticcage.2• Setup the wheel with the desired number of magnets. If necessary, unscrew and remove the exceedingones.3• Put the wheel into its housing inside the cage as illustrated below.

To remove the magnetic switch turn the thumbscrewcounter-clockwise.

6• PressthebluebuttontoresettheLCDcounter.

4• Ensure that the magnetic switch is well fixed on the wheel support.5• InsertthecableintotheLCDcounter.

CLEANING GUIDELINES FOR TECNIPLAST ACTIVITY WHEELS

GENERAL PRECAUTIONS To avoid damaging stainless steel surfaces: •DO NOT use steel wool or brushes made of other metals or alloys (e.g. common steel, aluminium, brass, etc.) or tools previously used to clean other metals or alloys. •Stainless steel wool and brushes may be used since they do not affect the surface, but it is necessary to operate carefully to avoid scratches. On polished finishes rub or wipe in the direction of the polish lines. •AVOIDcontactofferrousmaterialswithstainlesssteelsurfaces. •Avoidcontactwithanyproductcontainingchlorine. •DO NOT use hydrochloric acid (HCl), Sodium hypochlorite (bleach) on stainless steel surfaces. Avoid contact with hydrochloric acid vapours (e.g. due to floor cleaning). •DONOTusenitricacid. •DONOTuseabrasivepowderdetergents. •Testproductsonasmallhiddenornon-criticalareabeforecleaning. •De-ionizedwatermaybeusedtopreventlimestonescaling. •Aftercleaningdrystainlesssteelsurfacescarefullytopreventanylimestonescaling. •DONOTuseoilyragsorgreasyclothstowipethesurfaces.

IMPORTANT When cleaning stainless steel surfaces wear adequate personal protective equipment in compliance with your Laboratory SOPs and with laws and regulations in force in the country where the product is installed in terms of personal health and protection. Be extremely careful when handling chemical products. Carefully read and follow safety data sheet instructions before using any chemical product.

HOW TO WASH THE ACTIVITY WHEEL

PROCEDURE 1• Removethemagneticswitch. 2• Takethewheeloutofthecage. 3• Removeanydustinsidethewheel. 4• Wipe the surfaces with a soft cloth dampened with an appropriate detergent for stainless steel surfaces. 5• Rinsewithabundantwater. 6• Wipedrywithacleansoftcloth.

IMPORTANT: DRY STAINLESS STEEL SURFACES AND INTERSTICES BETWEEN THE WHEEL BEAMS VERY CAREFULLY TO PREVENT ANY LIMESTONE SCALING.
