How to Set Up an IMAP Account

1. If you have already set up a delegate account, right click on the account name and click

Close this Account.

2. Log in to Google’s web access (mail.google.com/a/sbts.edu). Click Settings > Labels.

Remove the word Inbox when it appears in front of a subfolder.

3. Click Start > Control Panel > Mail.

4. Click Email Accounts.

5. Click New. When the Add New E-mail Account box appears, Click Microsoft Exchange,

POP3, IMAP, or HTTP. Click Next.

6. Check Manually configure server settings or additional server types. Click Next.

7. Click Internet E-mail. Click Next.

8. Type in your name and e-mail address.

Server Settings:

Account Type: IMAP

Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com

Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com

Type your full e-mail address as your username, and type your password. Check

Remember password.

Click More Settings.

9. Click on the Outgoing Server tab. Click Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

10. Click the Advanced tab.

Server Port Numbers:

Incoming server: 993

Encrypted connection: SSL

Outgoing server: 587

Encrypted connection: TLS

Click OK.

11. Click Test Account Settings. When complete, click Close.

12. Click Next > Finish.
