How to take an A.R. Test

Look to find a book that is in your ZPD range.

• Pre First level—Orange

• 1st—Blue

• 2nd—Red

• 3rd—Green

• 4th—Brown

• 5th—Yellow

• 6th—Purple

•Look on the book for the exact book level.

•Make sure it is on your ZPD.

•Look at the quiz number.

•Write it on your book log.

Then what?

• Write the name of your book, quiz number and the author’s name on your reading log.

• Write your ZPD and the point level and number of points your book is.

Reading Log

• Everyday that you read your book you need to write the number of pages that you read.

• Have your teacher initial the log after/during reading every day.

Taking an AR Test

• Get permission from your teacher to take an AR test on a certain book.

• Take your log, NOT your book to the computer.

Login Enter your User ID and Password. Click Log In or touch the Enter key.

Click Take a Quiz

Choose the Type of Quiz

If you are taking an AR Quiz choose Take a Reading Practice Quiz.

Find Your QuizEnter the Quiz number found on the label on your log. If you do not have the quiz number enter a main word and search the list. Click Search.

Select Your Book Title

Click your book title from the list that appears. If it does not appear try a different search or consult a teacher.

How did you read the book:

If someone read the book to you click Read To. If someone read the book with you click Read With. If you read the book by yourself click Read Independently.

• Make sure you mark if the book was read to you by a grown up,

• read with a friend,

• or read by yourself.

Check the FactsBefore clicking Yes to take the quiz make sure that you have the correct book. If it is not the correct book click No and you will go back to the Search screen. If the book is above your ZPD and has an option to turn on the recorded voice. Click On.

Take the Quiz

Click Start Quiz. The quiz will begin. Choose answers by clicking on them, using the arrows to move to them, or pressing the letter of the answer. Click Next or press Enter to move to the next question.

Click Continue

Take a vocabulary test.

Check your score.

• Remember….you must keep the percent correct at 90% or better.

• Show your teacher your reading log.

Log OutIt is very important that you click Log Out. If you do not someone else may take a test under your name. If you see this when you sit down at the computer to quiz click Log Out for the person who forgot.

Keeping on TrackThe Percent of the marking period that has passed should be about the same as the % of Goal for Points Earned. If it is you are on track toward making 100% of your goal.

Certification

When you earn your Certification Goal it will show at the bottom.

Can I test at home?• No, but you can find out if a book you have at

home is an A.R. book.• Log into www.renlearn.com• Go the store.

• Go to the quiz store.

• Type in the title of the book.

Check the author, then double click on the book that you think it is.

Check the ISBN number and the year published to make sure it is the correct book.

Now you can write down the quiz number, book level and AR points.
