How to Travel Stress-free with a Toddler-Part3

• Here is another part of the series written by Ben Pure. He has tried to make your journey smooth and stress-free in his three part series on travelling with toddlers. He had earlier mentioned about how strollers can make your life easier when you are travelling. Most airlines allow strollers to be carried till the end of the gate. Some of the airlines even allow the stroller to be taken in the plane if there is ample space. However, if you are checking in your stroller make sure it is wrapped appropriately and labeled ‘fragile’. The stroller should have a tag with your name, address, and phone number attached to it. It is also a good idea to carry a car seat if it is convenient and if it is not a part of baggage restriction.

• It is also important to talk to children about the journey and the ‘thing’ that will happen at the airport. Some sensitive toddlers may not like the idea of suddenly removing their shoes and parting with their comfort toy even for a short bit when it goes on the conveyor belt. In fact, Benjamin Pure suggests, try to get in a queue reserved for the families to make your life easier. Do not keep a lot of things on the stroller because it would be difficult to empty it at the last minute and there is a chance that you might leave something important behind.

• Well after the security check has been done, there is time to visit toilets, change nappies, explore the airport, or grab a snack. Reaching the airport early always helps. It is also a good idea to tire the children in the play area so that they sleep during the journey. Do not stray too much and stay near the gate from where you have to board the flight advises Ben Pure. Most airlines let families with children board first which makes life easier. It is natural to feel frustrated and stressed out before you set out to travel with children. Just don’t express your frustration because children pick up moods fast.
