What is Instagram?

So, what is Instagram? Instagram is a FREE photo app that is available from the iTunes App Store and from Google Play. This app is now available for Apple and Android devices, and you can now access it on the web too. On Instagram, you can share your life through a series of pictures, and you can

follow others as well. This is becoming one of the most popular social networks today!

How To Get Started1. Download the Instagram app from iTunes or from the app store on your

device.2. Launch the app by tapping the icon on your devices home screen.3. To register, click the sign up button at the bottom of the screen. Then type

in all of your information like shown in this picture. Once you have entered your information, click the green register button at the bottom of the screen. 3.

4. Now you can choose to find friends from your contact list, Facebook account, Twitter account, or search for names. Then click next.

5. Choose which suggested Instagram users you would like to follow by pushing “follow,” then click “Done.

Feed TabThe feed tab is the tab that looks like a

house. This tab allows you to scroll through the post of all the Instagram

users you are following. Just swipe up to scroll through them.

Popular TabThe popular tab is the star icon. This allows you to see photos by

users that are popular in the Instagram world.

Share TabThe share tab is the camera, and it allows you to share

pictures by choosing camera, which allows you to take a picture, or by choosing photo gallery, which allows you

to use a picture that is already saved to your device.

You can choose to apply a filter to your photo.

Select one from the choices that

appear, then click next.

Enter a short description of your photo. Then press

“Add to your Photo Map” if you want

people viewing it to see exactly where

you took the picture.

Click any social network that you

would also like your photo to be

posted on.

Then click the check

mark when you are done.

News TabClick this tab to see updates

from Instagram and other users and to see your notifications.

Profile Tab This is the tab on the far right. This is where you go to view and edit your profile, for all of your account settings, and to search for

users and tags.

How to Like and CommentTo like someone’s photo, you can either tap the heart under the picture or

double tap the actual picture. If you want to unlike it, press the heart again. To leave a comment, just tap the comment bubble, type your comment , and press

“send.”

# HashtagsAdd tags to make your picture visible on public tag pages!

To tag a photo:1. Take a picture and choose a filter.2. On the screen after choosing a filter, you can type your #hashtag in the Caption field.3. If you want to tag a photo that has already been loaded, include the tag in the comment of your picture.4. After you tag your photo with a hashtag, you’ll be able to tap on the hashtag to see a page that shows all photos users have uploaded with the same hashtag. http://help.instagram.com/365080703569355/

Hashtags are a great way for others to find you and see your pictures on Instagram, and to get more likes.

Keep in mind: Numbers in hashtags will work, but special characters do not. Also, try to be as descriptive as possible. The

number of hashtags is limited to thirty in order to prevent photos from being mis-tagged. #
