How to use ONVIF Test Tool

Version: 3.0

1 IPV6 Test Environment Setup

1. Setup the VMware Workstation from package.

2. If it is the first time to open system the in VMware, first you need to ensure that computer can

be connected to the website, then select one of serial numbers (in the end of document) to

activate VMware.


3. Setup the program step by step.

4. Extract the generic-pc-1.32-vm.zip in the package. Open m0n0wall.vmx through VMware and

click power on. The figure is shown as follows.


5. In first installation, configure an IP address to VMware in the m0m0wall configuration

interface. Input the IP of VMware in IE and login. The default user name and password is

admin and mono. Please see the image below:


6. Then Enter 24 to set the IP segment of DHCP and input Enter to finish the configuration.

7. Input the IP address of monowall on web interface and login, the default user name and

password are admin/mono.

8. Select ‘Enable IPv6 support’ in System->Advanced.


9. Configure IPv6 IP of LAN in Interfaces->LAN, select ‘send IPv6 router advertisements

‘and save.

Notes:


If computer OS is window XP, you need setup the IPV6 protocol (command: IPV6 Install). And also

devices, computer and m0nowall must be in the same network segment.

2 Onvif Test Tool Setup

2.1 ONVIF Environment Setup

1. Run setup.exe of ONVIF_Device_Test_Tool_v13_06 in the package and setup step by step.

2. After finishing the setup successfully, run it and we will do some parameter configuration.

2.2 Parameter Configuration

1. Select the NIC as you need. Discover devices in the same network segment. Click Probe and

Check one by one. You will find detailed info of devices.


Notes: if devices don’t support ONVIF protocol, it will not be checked successfully.

2. Go to Management Configure interface. Configure Timeout parameters like this:

3. The most important is Event you choose. Go to Events interface of Miscellaneous and click

Get first. Choose the events. Generally speaking, for ONVIF test, if the firmware is below

v5.2.0(not including v5.2.0), you just need to choose one of the topics as follows :

tns1:MediaControl/VideoSourceConfiguration or

tns1:MediaControl/VideoEncoderConfiguration

If the firmware is above v5.2.0(including v5.2.0), please choose the events below.

tns1:VideoSource/MotionAlarm;


4. Go to Conformance Test and click Start Conformance Test. And you can see the test result in

Diagnostics.

5. In Diagnostics interface, you can see the function list in the left and test result in the right of

interface. If color of one article is green, that means: this article has passed. If it is red, you

know the test is failed. As long as one of the articles is failed, the whole test is failed.

6. Of course, you also can control the process using the tool bar in the font of interface.


7. After the test is finished, please fill the detailed info in the Conformance Test interface like

this:


3 Notes and FAQ

1. You must ensure your window Firewall is closed during the test.

2. Before your test, configure the network parameters first. Set the range of IP that can be

added.

Go to local network->Properties-> Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) Properties

->Advanced->IP address.

And add IP parameters like this. The format is:

IP：169.254.xx.xx, Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0

3. Open BLC and close WDR and HLC in IE. In this way, you can pass IMAGING COMMAND

SETIMAGINGSETTINGS.

4. If you find that G711/G726 paramesters can’t be passed, you can Default devices and test

again. It will be passed successfully.

5. If you find that MPEG-4 function can’t passed successfully, setup ffdshow video encoder in

the package, please.


6. If you find errors shown as follows：

Solution: modify the Capture mode of Image, 1280*960/1920*1080
