How to Use Write-N-Cite

Write-N-Cite
• Log out of RefWorks if you are logged in
• Open a new Word document• Name it and save it• Under Add Ins, click on Write-N-Cite
Write-N-Cite• Within the Write-N-Cite window, – Log on to your RefWorks account – Check the box Always on top– To display references: under View, click
on Folder, then the folder name containing the references you want to cite
Writ-N-Cite
• In Word start typing a paper• To insert a reference, have your cursor
where you want the reference– Click on Cite for one of the references in the
Write-N-Cite window• Don’t be alarmed—it won’t look like a
reference yet• Type another sentence and insert
another reference
Write-N-Cite• To see what the paper will look like in the
end, click on Bibliography in the Write-Cite window
• Make sure the Output Style is the one recommended by your instructor
• Click on the Create Bibliography button• Voila!! You have a paper with citations
inserted properly and in the proper format and a bibliography at the bottom

• Caution!! Be sure to check the citations to see that they conform to the style and are complete.
