HELPING THE UNIVERSITY AND COLLEGE CREATE THE UK’S BEST ACADEMIC STUDENT EXPERIENCE.L A S T Y E A R

• 1,800 students were consulted in Your Education week to help create the 10 Education Priorities for Loughborough.

• We made good progress on all 10 Priorities, especially:• More contact time• New student led Teaching Awards• 3 week turnaround on marking

• 358 of our 500+ Programme Reps completed the full training programme.• 34 Your Education Award

• Better relationships with University Schools.

• More staff for Voice.

N E X T Y E A R

• Work on the new 10 Education Priorities.

• Develop Peer assisted learning and peer mentoring throughout the University.

• Develop the capabilities and support for our Programme Presidents and academic reps.

• Improve our work with Postgrad/International students.

• New mid Module survey to be launched.

• Improve our relationship with schools and the way Staff/Student liaison committees work.

• Keep pushing to understand how programmes are financed.

• Help ensure the Loughborough In London Student experience is first class.

• Monitor NSS performance to see a marked improvement as a success indicator.

• 8,541 actively engaged with student activities.

• 1,396 students took on leadership roles.

• 2001 student “Action Heroes” volunteered a total of 28,100 hours.

• 3,286 students organised and joined 80 societies.

support aiming to increase engagement numbers by about 5% p.a. especially College, PG and international.

• Develop our co-curricular offer especially with the College.

• Develop competency frameworks and ongoing recognition for all leading posts.

• Training that is interactive and based on problem-solving.

• Improve the links between involvement and career development working with Careers service and on the Graduate Attributes project.

• Develop systems to help students record their activities and learning for future via our website in a way that makes it easy and rewarding.

• In the 2014 NSS Survey the Union received an 89% satisfaction score on Q23 (SU’s ) - 3rd in UK.

• Reform of our democracy to bring in Forums and Student Affairs Committee.

• Brand strongly established.

• Use of Tribes segmentation starting to be embedded.

• Loyalty being established despite teething troubles, giving us access to new data on what students do.

• Re-design of website and preparation for Union Cloud migration.

• Establish the new democracy, Forum and Union Affairs committee.

• Make our communication targeted and focused so it is relevant to the people it reaches through our Tribes, loyalty and other data driven segmentation.

SUPPORTING STUDENTS WITH THE CHALLENGES OF STUDENT LIFE AND PROMOTING DIVERSITY SO EVERYONE FEELS COMFORTABLE HERE.L A S T Y E A R

• 38 student parents with children at our Campus Nursery.

• Loughborough Women’s Network helped female students to feel comfortable on campus.

• 400 students have been helped by our Student Voice Advocates with academic misconduct, complaints, appeals and impaired performance.

• The Ethnic Minorities Network run campaigns including #ITOOAMLBORO and a Love Talent, Hate Racism event.

• The LGBT Association has developed from a social group to a full campaign, social and support network for its members.

• HeadsUp!, the mental health and wellbeing group, ran Mental Health day with Uni and LSU signing up to the Time to Change Pledge.

• Unwanted was a campaign launched to tackle sexual harassment on nights out in the Union.

• One of 7 universities to sign up to the pilot NUS Alcohol Impact Scheme.

• Develop plans to create a building to suit our needs for the next 10 years:

• Develop a bid to the University for a transformational building development £7-£20m.

• Develop plans for a more modest self financed development, c£1.5m to solve problems like the roof, and create ongoing income.

• Options between the two.

• Establish best practice in risk management.

• Build our cash reserves so we are covered against likely risks.

• Establish a new office and staff resources for Loughborough in London.
