Introduction Mobile marketing is one of the fastest growing segments of online marketing. If you are keen in making money online, then you really have to pay lots of attention to what is happening in the mobile world!

What Is a Cell Phone Application?

Cell phone applications are add on programs downloaded to cell phones for your convenience. These days, there are cell phone applications for just about anything you can imagine to help any of your needs on the go. These applications can do anything from finding your GPS location to finding WIFI connections in your general area.

Applications vary in price range - from free to up to a thousand dollars or more, depending on what the application is capable of and its quality. Games usually run for about a dollar to five dollars, depending on what game it is and what gaming brand made it. Most GPS applications are free, but if you’re looking for high quality cell phone apps, then you might have to pay a few bucks for the good ones.

Most companies provide customer feedback so that potential customers can read what other consumers have had to say about it before making a decision to buy the app. Many companies also provide a rating system that users can look at to see the quality of the application. The rating system is based on a star system - the more stars, the better the reviews are for the cell phone application.

Cell phone applications have many purposes and are capable of just about everything you can imagine. Users can learn Spanish from their phones just by simply downloading a little application and teaching themselves. Watch TV from the smart phone using the VCast video streaming application for pure entertainment. Students can even practice for that stressful SAT from their cell phone because there are endless applications for consumers' every need.

No, I am not saying that you have to create games to upload to these app stores. If you take a look in the Android and Apple app stores, you will notice that there are numerous other niche apps created as well. People download apps not just to play games but for other information purposes as well.

These niche apps can be easily created but what is important is knowing how to make money off them! Your purpose in doing mobile marketing is to make money, isn't it? If so, then read the following notes very carefully.

If you have been involved with internet marketing, you will already have heard of the days back in the 1990s when you can easily set up some made-for-adsense sites, publish them and just wait for money to come in!

These apps that you create for monetization are just like the adsense sites back in the old days. All you need to do is to do some research, create some apps, put them up on the Google Play Store and see the figures in your adsense account going up! I'm not over-simplifying the process because it is so simple! Creating apps is a new trend so there are not many rules governing this game yet.

You do not have to create backlinks to your apps to get them to page one! And once these apps are downloaded on your customers' smartphones, you will have repeated chances of making money off them!

How Do You Make Money With Mobile Apps?

1.Sell your apps on Google Play Store Once you have created these mobile apps and get them uploaded to the Google Play Store, you have the option of either selling these apps or allowing your customers to download for free.

You may think that I am crazy to suggest free download because your objective is to make money! Not true, because there tend to be more downloads when the app is free, especially when it is a fun app and you can monetize your apps via advertisements.

2. Place ads on your apps As you already know, adsense is a form of advertisement run by Google whereby all you need to do is to add some codes that you obtain from your adsense account on your website and Google will do the job of placing relevant ads on your site.

You can do the same for your apps! In fact, this is a very common way for app owners to make money these days. If you have downloaded any apps before, even your popular “Angry Birds” game, you would have seen these ads in place.

All that you need is an Admob account (do not use your adsense account, they are not the same!). Place your admob codes on your mobile apps and when someone click on the app, you earn the credit!

What this means is, the more people download your apps, the more money you will earn from your admob advertisements! Thus, what you need to do is to ensure that you create apps in niches that are popular with smartphone users, so that there will be more downloads.

There are lots of interesting niches which will attract a lot of downloads, all you need to do is to study what are some of the apps already put up by others. You can then create an app in a similar niche but target at a different angle to attract more downloads.

Below are the screen shots of some of the apps that I had put up sometime between August and October. One is in the relationship niche. Notice how high the number of downloads is, and the best part is, I did not have to do any kind of marketing, such as backlinking, to promote the apps!

All I did was put the apps up in Google play store and wait for users to download them. You notice that there are some winners and some losers but it does not matter, because each app takes me less than ½ hour to create and each will earn me some money from advertisement, even without promotion.

I like to show you both my winners and losers because I do not want to pretend that every app that you have created will be a winner. That is definitely not true but you have to try your hands at them. The best part is that each of these apps takes only a few minutes to be created! (You may take longer during your first few attempts but you will build them faster over time.)

These are just a fraction of my apps and most of them are offered as free downloads. I try to offer value to my users so that they will download the apps and click on the advertisements on these apps. There are many ways in which you can monetize your apps.
