PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
I would like to congratulate our students on a fantastic first semester. There have been many
wonderful achievements– academic, social and sporting that our school community as a
whole can feel very proud of. Reading each school report and looking at the growth that
students are achieving through their endeavour and application to learning, has been very
satisfying. We are lucky to have a great group of educators in our school who are committed
to student improvement. They work very hard, often in their own time to problem solve and
develop learning programs that cater to our 190 individual students. I hope all students and
staff enjoy this mid year break with their families and friends. Stay safe and we will see students
back at school on Tuesday July 24th.

On Thursday the 28th of June, 4/5/6J and 5/6A went to Albury
to the Yindyamarra Sculpture Walk and to watch Fame the
Musical. They performed at The Entertainment Centre. The
show was wonderful with heaps of tricks and songs to make
the show more interesting. The roles in the performance were
all terrific but not only that they all shared the stage. We thank
Albury High School for putting on this performance and we
hope Albury High will have another performance just as well as
this one!

As part of our learning in K/1R and 2S, we celebrated NAIDOC
week and the conclusion of our Indigenous Perspectives unit.
K/1R looked at Indigenous artworks and then created their own
dot paintings with an Australian animal theme.
2S learned about Indigenous shelters and then we had a go at
making our own small scale ‘Gunyahs’ and ‘Mia Mias’.

Garden Review Week 10
Tuesday’s cooking lesson for 3/4M and
3/4B was their last lesson in the SAKG
program for the year. They made several
yummy dishes: fried rice, flat bread, fruit
salad and a juice drink. The students had
a great time in the program and have
enjoyed caring for the garden and
preparing meals.
A special thank you to the volunteers who
gave up their time to help make this
term’s program so successful. We could
not do it without you. If you would like to
become a volunteer for Term 3, we would
love to have you!
Next term the K/1 classes and 2S will get
to experience all that the SAKG program
has to offer. Stay tuned for more details.

Statement of Account
This year as part of our new accounting system, we are invoicing for activities/excursions as
soon as they have been organised. Permission notes will be distributed closer to the actual
events. The idea is to give parents and carers the opportunity to budget for these future
expenses. You may still pay in instalments or in full before the event, if you wish.
Reminder, advanced payments can be made at the office at any time for any upcoming
activities/excursions. These advanced payments will sit as a credit against your child until the
activity is invoiced and the permission note has be signed and returned by parent/carer.
All school payments can be paid at the office by cash, cheque, EFTPOS or Parent Online
Payment (POP) on our webpage.
Please note: Canteen orders, P&C Uniform, P&C membership can only be paid at the
canteen by cash or EFTPOS.
National Data Collection
This week, the classroom teachers and the Learning Support Team have been collating data
for the National Data Collection. The National Data Collection occurs annually and counts
the number of school students with a disability and students who require learning
adjustments.
The National Data Collection is an opportunity for schools to review their learning and
support systems and processes to continually improve education outcomes for their students.
Mrs E. Newton
We would like to say a big thankyou to the Howlong Produce Store for kindly donating a large amount of seeds; including flowers and vegetables.
This will keep our kitchen garden very busy as well as beautifying our school
yard.
Uniform Reminders: Please be sure to check the lost property box in the office as anything
left at the end of term is washed and given to the P&C to sell in their second hand uniform
shop.
Also it is a good idea to take hats home in the holidays to wash them but please ensure
they are back at school for the beginning of term.
