Hozier really wants to emphasize how his music matters more then his looks and how he is focused on making good music rather then being a “Camera idle”.

Light and his michrophone depict that what he is singing means something and is going to give someone hope (light=hope)

As the song progresses, the beat picks up and we start understanding the meaning of the lyrics she is more determined and we have more understanding

The facial expression, hair slicked to one side and leather jacket give her an almost hostile vibe

His back is turned to us and shows how he is remaining mysterious and only wants us to hear what he is singing and now see what he looks us.

It feels like we are put in the spotlight and blinded as he sings along

We are immediately surprised by this occurrence since we have seen her alone this whole time and very observant like a lion observing for its prey.

He is confused and does not understand what she is doing or knows who she is (which he doesn’t)

Her facial expression and body language is much more positive then we have ever seen in any other scenes and looks like she has “bagged a golden prize”

We now understand why the song is called “Someone New” since this is a completely new person

We can finally relate why she was so happy to find this new person

Door is shut on the audience telling us that what she is doing is explicit.

We now understand the meaning of “Someone new” this gives us an understanding of the character.

There is slight confusion when we see her walking past the man she had just had intercourse with.

We don’t realize it now but what she had with him was a figure of imagination and fantasy.

We get introduced to a new person this gives us the sense that she is searching for someone.

The audience starts to suspect that she is just imagining herself with different people

She looks back dramatically and seems distraught that he imagination did not come true but it gives us the sense she has moved on since she is walking forward and away from him

She gazes outside of a window and we can tell that she is reflecting on something.

This looks like she is reflecting on her self and looking at who she is.

Obviously staring and not being subtle we can tell that she is attracted to him

He is completely oblivious to what she is thinking or about his surroundings.

By now we very much doubt that this is actually happening and we think this is her imagination and fantasy.

She awakens and we were right in thinking it was all her imagination and a dream

She appears to be disorientated and confused about where she is, often a case of people falling asleep on public transport.

We can only just see her in the background but we can tell she is observing them

We see her with the other girl doing the exact same thing as the other one, she wishes she was in her shoes

We see her exiting the tube station with the girl that she has imagined her self with

The colour is very particular and reflect a feminine colour showing a deeper meaning to “Someone new” that she will look at anyone in this way despite their gender or race.

us that it was all a part of her imagination and fantasy

We can tell that she is sad and distraught about her evening and she is almost doing the “walk of shame” this makes us have pity for her.

The shot is almost a duplicate of the previous one

This tells us that the artist is in the same position and that she is not alone in her situation.

She is seen with another man and they seem to be very intimate. Again we are very sceptical about this

We see the man with another girl and this seems to be the same as all other guys and that this was all her fantasy and imagination, there is a very large repetition.

She seems to have arrived home and looks down about her evening and the failures of her fantasies to come through

We are once again surprised buy her sporadic nature and we are completely clueless as to who the man is, we assume it is her boyfriend, fiancé or husband since she is at home

She removes her black leather jacket and is wearing a simple white t-shirt, exactly like the man in her fantasy.

She is alone and the man (although we thought he was real) is a figure of her imagination.

We have the best look at the artist showing that as the video progresses he revels his identity.

This is by far the most intense intercourse scene in the whole video

We recognise this place, it being the place where we first saw the character.

Exactly where she was at the beginning (this whole music video could have been an imagination)

Same place in the screen as she was in the last scene

She is distraught and almost in shock about her thoughts and that her fantasies have not come through.

Though it’s the same place where the music video began it’s a very different situation.
