SALES SPOTLIGHT: ALEX COLTON
Top notch customer serviceis what Parts Now! AccountRepresentative Alex Coltonstrives for. His sense ofhumor makes him a hit inand out of the office. Butwhen he’s not at his desk,he’s miles away at asporting event or visiting
an exotic destination. Read on to see why Alexis popular around Parts Now! (and hopes tobecome even more so in Italy or Egypt.)
Service Today: When did you join Parts Now!?Alex Colton: I have worked with Parts Now! for 5 1/2 years. I started in the AccountingDepartment and then transferred over to Sales a year later. I’ve been an account rep ever since.
ST: Why did you make the switch to Sales?AC: Well, seeing that my degree is in ExercisePhysiology from the University of WI –Madison, sales is quite a different direction! I have a strong background in retail sales andcustomer service so the transition seemed natural. And I like the challenge that Sales presents. I have a variety of customers withunique backgrounds that make each day interesting and different.
ST: Where is your primary customer baselocated?AC: Most are located west of the Mississippiand I work with customers of all sizes. I havebuilt a great rapport with them since I love tojoke around a bit.
ST: What is the best tip you can give yourcustomers?AC: I recommend that every customer get theservice manuals for the printers they are working
on. It helps to speed up the ordering process andincreases order accuracy. The manual is aninvestment that every company should make.
ST: What do you see as the strong points ofParts Now!?AC: I think the addition and growth of ourCustomer Service and Customer Developmentdepartments has helped me more than anything. We have a solid group of people that work inboth departments. When I’m out of the office, I never have to worry about my customers. I know that they are going to get top notch service! Well, not as top notch as mine…butvery close (smiles).
ST: What are some of your interests outside of work?AC: I am a huge sports fan! I’m on the PartsNow! volleyball team that plays Monday nights. It’s fun but I end up missing some of MondayNight Football. Plus, I like to attend Universityof Wisconsin – Madison football and hockeygames. My other love is travel. But right now I mostly travel to UW games.
ST: Where have you traveled?AC: Just a couple months ago I went toCleveland for the UW Badger football gamewhen they played Bowling Green. I mentionCleveland because I was pleasantly surprised by the city and my experience. I visited theRock-n-Roll Hall of Fame and the Pro FootballHall of Fame while I was there. It is worth seeing if you are ever in Cleveland.
ST: What destinations do you dream aboutvisiting?AC: Places like Italy or Egypt really interest me because of the history attached to them. I haven’t done much international travel so it’s a big interest of mine. Hopefully, I can pick up a new customer in a faraway country who wantsme to come out and visit!

As the popularity of the LaserJet 4345
Multifunction Printers has increased, so
have the number of questions on how to
remove that tricky Swing Plate Assembly.
In January 2006, Parts Now! published an
article that talked about the purpose and
replacement reasons for the HP LaserJet
4200/4300 swing-plate assembly. The HP
LaserJet 4345mfp uses the same engine as
the HP LJ 4300 so you would think it
would be the same or at least similar.
Well, not exactly. The LJ 4345 is a multi-
function printer (mfp), which means there
are a lot more items to remove in order to
access the swing plate. Ultimately you will
have to remove the printer’s power supply,
just like in the 4200/4300, but getting to
that power supply is what makes this such
a long procedure. The following steps will
help you locate the swing plate assembly,
which by the way, is not in the service
manual. Let us begin.
