Introduction to HP Design for Multi Jet Fusion Training2

This 4-hour online course provides an introduction to design for HP Multi Jet Fusion technology, its capabilities, and benefits. We’ll explore key concepts and advantages of additive manufacturing and how HP Multi Jet Fusion technology can bring unique innovation to your products and processes through a shift in design mindset.

HP Design for Multi Jet Fusion Training2

Explore intermediate and advanced techniques that help you take full advantage of HP 3D Printing. During this two-day session, you’ll discover new design strategies for optimizing part design with the design freedom enabled by HP Multi Jet Fusion technology.Training is offered to participants in two full-day, face-to-face sessions at an HP Training Center or via six online webinars.

Course Outline 1. Design GuidelinesPresents the reasons behind the basic dimensions and tolerances that can be achieved with HP Multi Jet Fusion technology with specific design examples.

2. Job PreparationLooks at how part designs are nested within the build chamber to illustrate how design decisions impact not only cost reduction, but also final part quality and repeatability.

3. Design for Color3 Offers strategies for unlocking enhanced value by designing and printing parts directly in color.3

4. Design for 3D TexturesLearn how to applying rich, functional textures to increase functionality and higher value to parts.

5. Design for Post ProcessingShows how post-print processing can be used to add extra functionality and how design can overcome process limitations such as lengthy post-processing times.

6. Topology OptimizationExplores how part geometries can be optimized topologically for HP Multi Jet Fusion technology in conjunction with FEA software to create parts with organic designs that provide stiffness and lightweight properties, without compromising mechanical performance.

7. MetamaterialsLooks at the theory behind lattice structures and metamaterials, looking at where and how to apply lightweight design elements, the tools available, and design possibilities.

8. Part Consolidation & AssemblyProvides specific techniques and design features for functional printed assemblies, large parts assembled after printing, and applications that require post-printing assembly.

9. Fluid ManagementDelves into possibilities offered by HP Multi Jet Fusion technology, together with most advanced fluid motion software, in overcoming existing design limitations, which help designers to create innovative

products with faster time-to-part and lower costs.

10. Design for CostExamines what drives part cost, how to reduce cost through part design, and offers key strategies, techniques, and tools for minimizing cost per part.

11. Parts Selection ExerciseIn this exercise, you have to select the best candidate parts and decide where you can apply key concepts learned on previous modules when selecting which parts to design for HP Multi Jet Fusion technology, how to request the printing of HP Multi Jet Fusion part designs, what to include in 2D and 3D drawings, and where to print.

12. Product Re-design Exercise In this exercise, you have proposed a re-design exercise for an existing product. Review steps to identify, define, and select strategies for HP Multi Jet Fusion technology. Explore design for assembly, other advanced design optimization strategies, and understand design impact on cost.

Build confidence and add value within your organization with a qualification insignia that communicates your expertise in designing for HP Multi Jet Fusion technology.
