About: The pride of the Northern Arapahoe Tribe was

established in 1903 in the 380,000 acres of high desert,

mountain country range. The purchase of the ranch

was completed in 1940. The Arapaho Ranch is a

wonderful example of a rejuvenated effort by the

Northern Arapaho Tribe to reconnect with its strong

traditions as a hunter/gather society whose very

existence depended on its willingness to live in

harmony with nature. The Ranch’s Natural Grass Fed

Non-Hormonal Certification represents a strong

About: In the spring of 2012, the State School Board

approved unification for FCSD #21. We changed from

a K-8 school district with a charter high school

(FWCHS) to a K-12 school district. Our high school

has been operating out of modular buildings for the

last ten years. Unification has allowed us to begin the

planning phases for genuine high school facility, so

that our students’ educational experiences will be more

equitable to what most Wyoming public high schools

can provide. Regardless of the challenges we face, as

11th graders the class of 2013 scored well above the

state average on the 2012 PAWS test, giving FWHS

one of the highest reading scores in the county. In nine

years of operation, 35 students have earned their

diplomas through FWCHS and FWHS.

population. A recent release from the Legal

Services Corporation finds that at least 80% of the

enrollment is approximately 150, with most students

being either Northern Arapaho or Eastern Shoshone.

In 2002, a documentary film entitled Chiefs,

chronicled life on the WRIR and the path of the

school’s basketball team to a state title. The team

frequently goes to the state tournament and has won

seven state titles, including in 2001 and 2009.

About: In the spring of 2012, the State School Board

approved unification for FCSD #21. We changed from

a K-8 school district with a charter high school

(FWCHS) to a K-12 school district. Our high school

has been operating out of modular buildings for the

last ten years. Unification has allowed us to begin the

planning phases for genuine high school facility, so

that our students’ educational experiences will be more

equitable to what most Wyoming public high schools

can provide. Regardless of the challenges we face, as

11th graders the class of 2013 scored well above the

state average on the 2012 PAWS test, giving FWHS

one of the highest reading scores in the county. In nine

years of operation, 35 students have earned their

diplomas through FWCHS and FWHS.
