Small Business Customer Backup- Challenges Budget constraints. Data critical. No or limited in house tech resources. Backup manually done on unreliable

optical media or external drives. Regulatory Compliances.

What is RDX ? Disk based back up Advantages of both tape back up and disk back up Functions as complete back up system and as a external drive Simple to back up - Hand free – Continuous data protection

One Drive – Multiple cartridges

Backs up the complete system

Take the cartridge offsite – Disaster recovery – 2 cartridge rotation Backs up entire system all HDDs – and creates a recovery point Incremental back up every day Keeps Versions of files

Recover – build your system back after a crash

Dedupe – saves space

Keeps a copy of all files ever created and deleted

Secure - only user can access the data – locked to the system

Robust – can withstand drop from 3 feet

Continuous Data Protection Software. Base Recovery Point is done when the drive with fresh media is connected

for the first time to the system. It is a complete backup of the system files and all other data on the disks and is the foundation of total system recovery.

Additional Recovery Points are created automatically at periodic intervals. These contain only the changes in the block system data since last recovery point.

Continuous Data Protection Software.File Set Backup is taken between recovery point creations. It is the backup of files which have been created, edited and saved files. Here files are never overwritten and only the newest data is backed up. It is this continuous process that allows “FILE VERSIONING” to take place. This feature allows files to be recovered to a previous version through a simple right click

Further saving of Cartridge Capacity can be achieved by “DATA DEDUPLICATION” where no data is backed up twice even when the data is in different files or disks on the same server. That data is further compressed for maximum capacity saving

Example 1. A presentation with 10 slides and 8 GB size has been backed up once on the RDX. A new file using the same data is created on the name system and 2 slides data added. The new file size now is 10 GB. With Data Deduplication only the added data is copied and a pointer is created, which allows faster backup and lesser capacity usage.

Continuous Data Protection Software.IN CASE OF A SYSTEM CRASH COMPLETE SYSTEM RECOVERY CAN BE DONE BY THESE SIMPLE STEPS.

Insert the HP CDP CD in the Server or Workstation. Make sure the RDX drive is connected with the appropriate

media in it. Reboot the workstation to boot from the CD. Select options like language, recovery point date and time

and target disk Once you select the above options the restore starts and on

completion the Server/Workstation is ready for use after a reboot.

Who will buy? Entry level servers

Complete back up at a fraction of the cost No need for Back up SW Advantages of both tape back up and disk back up Backs up the complete system Take the cartridge offsite – Disaster recovery – 2 cartridge rotation Secure - only user can access the data – locked to the system Dedupe – saves space Recover – build your system back after a crash Servers and systems sold in out locations

Easy Rebuild Simple to back up - Hand free – Continuous data protection Backs up the complete system Recover – build your system back after a crash
