Compute and storage can be scaled independently so customers can easily expand, as business needs change.

HPE Hyper Converged is available as the following solutions:

• HPE Hyper Converged 380: Based on the world’s best-selling HPE ProLiant DL380, HPE Hyper Converged 380 enables you to deploy resources at cloud speed, simplify IT operations, and reduce overall costs like no other hyperconverged system available today. Converged management and automation capabilities built into the HPE Hyper Converged 380 allow customers to simplify everyday tasks. With the new HPE OneView consumer-inspired user interface (UX), IT generalists can easily and quickly create VMs, update firmware and drivers, manage VM sprawl, and add server, storage, and VM capacity all in a few simple clicks. This system is your VM vending machine, offering a complete virtualization solution with the lowest cost to start, scale, and protect.

• HPE Hyper Converged 250: This system is a compact 2U, 4-node virtualized platform with powerful compute and resilient storage managed from a single interface and optimized to handle a variety of workloads to build a virtualized, cloud expandable infrastructure. With cost-effective scaling and a host of configuration options, customers can start with two nodes, and seamlessly expand to 164 nodes.

• HPE Hyper Converged 250 for Microsoft® Cloud Platform System Standard (CPS-S): This system is a compact, all-in-one solution for creating your virtualized Microsoft infrastructure that is factory-integrated for an easy and quick Azure-consistent cloud in a box and VM provisioning.

Technical white paper Page 4

With the suite of Microsoft System Center 2012 tools, you can manage all aspects of your solution from monitoring and alerts, provisioning, management to cloud expansion and deployment.

There are a number of options to configure solutions for specific workload requirements. These options include:

• Compute nodes: Depending on the number of processor cores needed, you can configure two to 16 servers to function as a single vCenter cluster or three to four servers in a single Microsoft resource pool. Intel® Xeon® processor options provide between six and 18 physical cores per processor. In addition, you can configure each server in the HC 380 solution with 128 GB to 1.5 TB of memory and each HC 250 solution with 128 GB to 512 GB of memory.

• Storage: HPE Hyper Converged solutions can be configured to meet your particular needs for capacity or IOPS. Storage can be customized to include all-flash (VMware® solutions only), hybrid-tier configuration leveraging the StoreVirtual VSA to manage Adaptive Optimization or capacity-focused options using all spinning disks.

• Networking: HPE Hyper Converged solutions for VMware offer the flexibility to be configured for use with 2 x 10GbE or 4 x 1GbE connections per compute node in the HC 250 solution, and multiple stages up to 6 x 10GbE or 8 x 1GbE connections per server for the HC 380.

Detailed list of configuration options for the HPE Hyper Converged 380 are outlined in Appendix A: Solution hardware configuration.
