HSBC Youth Business AwardThe Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) has always promoted the empowerment of local young people by encouraging them to explore new career opportunities, and breaking new ground in youth employment. In 2005, the “Youth Business Hong Kong” (YBHK) scheme was set up to offer Hong Kong’s first one-stop youth entrepreneurship services including seed money, business mentorship and support, information and networking.
Organised by HKFYG and sponsored solely by HSBC Commercial Banking, the “HSBC Youth Business Award” (Award) was first launched in 2011. The Award has continued since then with continuous support over the past five years and it has now reached its 6th anniversary. In order to further promote the culture and practice of entrepreneurship in Hong Kong, the HSBC Youth Business Award 2016 aims to:
• recognise young business enterprises that are pro-active, innovative and/or offer exceptional services• recognise the determination, creativity and accomplishments of young business enterprises and entrepreneurs• offer a platform for start-ups to exchange and enrich their business knowledge• promote public recognition of the contribution made by young business enterprises to the local economy in order
to encourage an entrepreneurial culture

* The winner of the Gold award may nominate one representative (named in Part II of the application form) to represent it in the Outbound Mission organised by HKTDC, schedule to take place between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2017 (both dates inclusive). The winner is responsible for ensuring that its representative has all relevant and valid travel documents and is responsible for the application of any relevant travel visas and related costs (where applicable). The prize is non-transferable and cannot be converted or exchanged for cash, and if the winner’s representative cannot participate in the designated Outbound Mission they will be regarded as having rejected participation in the Outbound Mission. HKTDC has absolute discretion to accept or reject the participation of the winner’s representative in the Outbound Mission. The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited is only the sponsor of the prizes and therefore assumes no liability or responsibility for the quality of or any incidents arising from the Outbound Mission organised by HKTDC.
Application Details
Eligibility 1. Business enterprises registered in Hong Kong between 3 June 2011 and 3 June 2015, both days inclusive, and which have been incorporated / set up in Hong Kong† for at least 1 year and not more than 5 years.
2. Business enterprises that are properly registered with the Hong Kong SAR Government and which hold all valid permits and licenses required or necessary for their business and activities.
3. The representative(s) of each business enterprise named in Part II of the application form must be Hong Kong residents aged between 18 and 40 (as at the application deadline) and be the founder(s) of the business, owning the majority and over 50% shares of the business and actively engaged in its management.
4. (Applicable to Innovative e-Business Award) The e-Business platform should be launched on or before 1 March 2016 and it is developed and copyrighted by Hong Kong registered companies.
† Determined by the date of incorporation indicated on the Certificate of Incorporation (applicable to incorporated limited companies only) or Certified Extract of Information on the Business Register (applicable to non-incorporated limited companies only).
Application Method
1. Stage 1 Application: Business enterprises to submit the application (Application Form) by mail with a postmark or by hand to the “HSBC Youth Business Award” Secretariat (“the Secretariat”) on or before 5 pm, 2 June 2016. Business enterprises can also submit an online application via the Award website at http://ybhk.hkfyg.org.hk/ybaward2016. Business enterprises will be notified by email on or before 8 June 2016 as to whether they are eligible to enter the second stage as referred to the Stage 2 Application below.
2. Stage 2 Application: Business enterprises that have been notified should submit the application (Supplementary Form) with supporting documents by mail with a postmark or by hand to the Secretariat on or before 5 pm, 24 June 2016. Supplementary Forms sent by fax or email will not be accepted due to authentication issues.

Main Award Innovative e-Business Award
1. Workplace Visit: After Stage 2 Application, the Secretariat may visit the shortlisted business enterprises, if necessary, for a better understanding of the operations.

2. Initial Assessment: All shortlisted business enterprises must attend the first round interview on 27 August 2016.

3. Online Public Voting: Finalists will be shortlisted for online public voting after the initial assessment and the “Most Favourite Youth Business Award Online” will be awarded to the enterprise with the most votes. The “Most Favourite Youth Business Award Online” will be solely based on online voting results and is independent of the final judging process.

4. Final Judging: Finalists must attend a final interview conducted by an independent judging panel. The final interview will be held on 24 September 2016. All decisions made by the judging panel shall be final.

Application Guidelines
1. General1.1 Each business enterprise can submit one application only.1.2 Representative(s) of each business enterprise must fill in all
data required in the application form clearly.1.3 Representative(s) of each business enterprise must provide
all required information accurately or otherwise, will result in disqualification.
1.4 No application documents will be returned. Representative(s) of the business enterprise are advised to keep duplicate copies for future reference.
1.5 The Secretariat reserves the right to request further information from the representative(s) of the business enterprise, e.g. Hong Kong identity card copy, address proof or other related information.
1.6 The personal information of the representative(s) of the business enterprise will be used for judging and correspondence purposes only.
1.7 Representative(s) of the business enterprise must agree to authorise the Secretariat to use their names, business description and other information solely for promotion of the Award. The financial information of the business enterprises, including any information relating to their accounts, will NOT be released.
1.8 The judging panel and the Secretariat reserve the right of final decision and the right to amend or interpret all details of the Award.
1.9 All applicants are required to attend publicity campaigns, e.g. promotional activities and media interviews.
1.10 All Award winners are required to attend the Award presentation ceremony.
2. Stage 1 Application2.1 Business enterprise may submit their applications
(Application Form) by hand or by mail with a postmark to the Secretariat on or before 5 pm, 2 June 2016. Online submission is also available via the Award website.
2.2 Representative(s) of the business enterprises shall not submit any personal identification documents at this stage.
3. Stage 2 Application3.1 Upon being notified, business enterprises should submit their
application (Supplementary Form) with supporting documents by mail with a postmark or by hand to the Secretariat on or before 5 pm, 24 June 2016. Applications sent by fax or email will not be accepted due to authentication issues. Two sets of the application documents should be submitted. Any missing information in either set of the application documents will not be considered.
3.2 Supporting documents include:
I. Basic information (compulsory)a. An application form (Supplementary Form).b. Duplicate copies of all valid permits and licenses required
or necessary for the business enterprise’s business and activities, e.g. Business Registration Certificate, etc.
c. Duplicate copies of the Certificate of Incorporation and Business Registration Certificate (applicable to limited companies only) or duplicate copies of the Certified Extract of Information on the Business Register or any other documents issued by the Hong Kong SAR Government as proof of the business enterprise’s date of incorporation.
d. Duplicate copies of the Annual Return (Companies Registry Form NAR1) or any other documents issued by the Hong Kong SAR Government as proof of the representative’s current shareholding in the business enterprise (applicable to limited companies only).
e. Duplicate copies of the latest tax return(s) and tax bills, and audited accounts (if statutory audit is required) or financial statements of the previous year.
II. Supplementary information (if applicable)a. Proven record showing the products or services were
newly introduced or exclusively sold in Hong Kong and / or the business enterprise is the sole agent in Hong Kong.
b. Organisation chart, with indication of the roles and responsibilities of the management of the business enterprise, including its representative(s).
c. Timetable of the marketing activities of the previous years and the current year.
d. Business development plan of the previous year and the current year.
e. Duplicate copies of any other relevant documents, such as media articles, award certificates and thank-you letters.
III. Supplementary information for Innovative e-Business Award (if applicable)
a. Proof of e-Business platform launch date b. Proof of the right to use the e-Business platform (license
is required if the platform is rented to the applicant by a third party)
c. Proof of existing measures in quality assurance, security and privacy protection
d. Development plan of the previous year, current year and the near future
e. Financial data showing the total cost involved in the development and maintenance of the e-Business platform
f. Financial statements for e-Business business g. Duplicate copies of any other relevant documents such
as media articles, award certificates and customer’s thank-you letters
h. A guest log-in account if the platform cannot be accessed publicly, free of charge and without prior registration
3.3 Business enterprises may submit supplementary material as attachments on A4 size paper in line with the item category order on application form.

We respect personal data and are committed to fully implementing and complying with the data protection principles and all relevant provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Chapter 486 of the laws of Hong Kong). Information provided by representative(s) of the business enterprises will be used by HKFYG strictly for purposes related to the Award only. Representative(s) of such business enterprises with enquiries about the use of data, including requests for access or correction, should contact the Secretariat.
