GRACE CATHEDRAL
Atop Nob Hill in downtown San Francisco, Grace Cathedral
Church, of the Episcopal Diocese of California, is a close,
active community of over 500 households. Long known for
its welcoming nature and energetic support of causes,
Grace has played a role since 1930, (supporting the labor
movement), to the 1960's (championing civil rights,
women's rights and the ordination of women) and through
the 1990's (serving the homeless and those suffering with
HIV/AIDS). The Choir of Men and Boys, formed in the
1950's and very active to this day, plus the Community
Pre-School and the Cathedral School for Boys, are three of
its most noteworthy organizations. Grace is especially
known for its wonderful labyrinths and its art and music
programs. Serene at sunset, with its beautiful Rose Window
alight with color, this stunning cathedral is a must-see when
in San Francisco.
CABLE CAR MUSEUM
Located in the historic Washington/Mason cable car barn
and powerhouse on Nob Hill, the Cable Car Museum deck
overlooks the huge engines and winding wheels that that
pull the cable and make San Francisco's famous cable cars
run up and down its steep hills. Downstairs is a viewing area
of the large sheaves and cable line entering the building
through the channel under the street. From 1873 to the
present, the cars have helped visitors and natives get
around town. The system is in the middle of an historic
re-build, to be completed in 2019.

Growth and recovering Redwood Forest, with mixed
conifer, oaks, chaparral, and riparian habitats. Elevations in
the park vary from sea level to over 2,000 feet. The climate
ranges from foggy and damp near the ocean to sunny,
warm ridge tops. During Springtime, a typical day in the park
is cool with showers with average daytime highs in the 60's,
lows in the 30's to 40's. There is an excellent 1-mile hiking
trail among the Redwoods.
